Performs a variety of specialized duties related to the receipt, interpretation, and implementation of patient diet orders.
- Responsible for the medical nutrition therapy of patient/residents; nutritional assessment, nutrition care plans, patient visitation, inpatient/outpatient diet counseling, consults regarding advance nutrition support as well as assist in other areas related to the nutrition services department.
- Assess nutritional needs, diet restrictions and current health plans to develop and implement dietary-care plans and provides nutritional counseling
- Consults with physicians and health care personnel to determine nutritional needs and diet restrictions of patient or client
- Advises patient and their families on nutritional principles, dietary plans and diet modifications, and food selection and preparation
- Counsels individuals and groups on basic rules of good nutrition, healthy eating habits, and nutrition monitoring to improve their quality of life
- Inspects meals served for conformance to prescribed diets and standards of palatability and appearance
- Provides substitutions if patient is unable to eat the meal provided, in accordance with diet restrictions
- Evaluates appropriateness of diet order for diagnosis and recommends diet order changes as indicated
- Select, train and supervise workers who plan, prepare and serve meals
- Develops nutrition care plans and monitors patient response to care plan developed
- Chart pertinent information from the nutritional care plan and from interventions
- Collaborates with physician and nursing to deliver quality nutrition care
- Acts as a Dietetic advisor to nursing, medical, allied health and catering staff in assigned areas
- Maintains accurate statistical records and reports as required by the department and the facility
- Performs all duties in a professional and confidential manner.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics or equivalent to the same
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a wellness clinic / hospital or similar organization
- Knowledge of proper hygiene practices and strong understanding of Food & Diets
- Innovative with strong service focused approach, interpersonal, negotiating and influencing skills
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal
- Confident and competent to attend all the cases
- Ability to create a welcoming atmosphere and put people at ease
- Ability to encourage patients to develop good preventative care habits
- Ability to quickly identify problems and determine effective treatments
- Computer literacy
- Maintain good appearance and proper demeanor at work.
- Safety conscious, motivated, able to manage pressure, takes initiative.
- Is service oriented and customer focused
- Fluent in English & Arabic (preferable)
- DOH License as Clinical Nutritionist / Dietician
- Valid BLS Certificate
