New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint an Operations Manager, Science Division reporting to the Assistant Dean for Administration, Science Division.

The Manager of Operations, Science will be the primary administrative contact and lead the Science Division support functions including overseeing administrative and operational support, administrative processes like leave tracking and coordinating support for department heads. Serve as an information conduit for the Science Division and respond to inquiries displaying a comprehensive knowledge of the department's activities, policies and programs. Interact with the NYUAD community including those at the senior level to resolve issues and problems. Make decisions regarding administrative processes, the delivery of services and use of allocated working and research spaces. Coordinate administrative interactions among the New York and Abu Dhabi constituents. Monitor and enhance all administrative operations for the Science Division. Prioritize office activities and delegate work to subordinates, students and/or temporary employees.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Manages and coordinates the integrated operational infrastructure of a large, multifaceted operating Academic Unit of the University
- Participates in the development of, and oversees implementation and compliance of the administration of unit policies, systems, and procedures
- Recommend new internal policies, guidelines and procedures based on functions of the Division
- Assists in the management of hiring, appraisals and promotions of staff
- Oversees the supervision of personnel, which includes work allocation, training, promotion, enforcement of internal procedures and controls, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance
- Represents the organization at various community and/or business meetings, committees, and task forces; promotes existing and new programs and/or policies
- Along with the Assistant Dean, helps prepares financial and/or operational analyses and reports, and audits current procedures to monitor and improve efficiency of operations
- Manage the day-to-day activities of one or more-unit line functions as appropriate, and may deputize for the head of the unit as required
- Along with the Assistant Dean, oversees the operating budget for the Science Division; establishes and maintains automated information system to track and reconcile expenditures and recoveries
- Assists the Dean and the Assistant Dean with annual budget planning and development including reviewing previous years' budgets and expenditures, analyzing trends, forecasting needs, preparing budget projections, recommending allocation of funds, and authorizing expenditures
- This position manages office and space planning/operations, supervises staff, and oversees business and administrative operations for the Science division

Qualifications:
**Required Education**:

- Bachelor’s Degree

**Preferred Education**:

- Bachelor’s Degree with a strong Operations/Administration background; advanced degree welcome as well as management certification

**Required Experience**:

- 5 years of experience in executive and administrative services, with a record of advancement and growth at progressively more responsible levels, preferably with an established international company, private organization, or governmental body operating in the U.A.E. Experience working with institutions of multi-national nature
- Prior experience and knowledge of faculty and staff hiring procedures
- Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures
- Knowledge of business practices and procedures
- Knowledge of applicable legislation, standards, policies and procedures within specialty area
- Ability to foster a cooperative work environment
- Knowledge of budget preparation, cost estimating, monitoring, and fiscal management principles and procedures
- Knowledge of management principles and practices
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
- Employee development and performance management skills
- Working knowledge of grants and contract administration
- Ability to develop and prepare working financial/business analyses
- Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
