**Responsibilities**:
**Blood Specimen Collection**: Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture to collect blood samples from patients, following established protocols and guidelines for specimen integrity and patient safety.
**Patient Interaction**: Greet and interact with patients in a friendly and professional manner, explaining the blood collection procedure to alleviate any fears or concerns.
**Sample Labeling and Documentation**: Properly label collected specimens with patient information and other necessary details. Maintain accurate and organized documentation of the collection process, ensuring records are complete and up-to-date.
**Infection Control**: Adhere to strict infection control protocols, maintaining a clean and sterile work environment to prevent the spread of infections and diseases.
**Equipment Maintenance**: Regularly inspect and maintain phlebotomy equipment to ensure accurate and safe functioning. Report any malfunctions or issues promptly.
**Patient Education**: Provide patients with appropriate instructions and information regarding pre-test requirements, such as fasting and medication restrictions.
**Quality Assurance**: Participate in quality assurance programs and contribute to the continuous improvement of phlebotomy services within the healthcare facility.
**Compliance and Safety**: Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and institutional policies, ensuring a safe and ethical work environment.
**Team Collaboration**: Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals and support staff to deliver seamless patient care and contribute to a positive work environment.
**Qualifications**:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Successful completion of a formal phlebotomy training program from an accredited institution.
Valid Department of Health (DoH) Phlebotomist license or eligibility to obtain one.
Prior experience as a Phlebotomist in a healthcare setting is preferred but not mandatory.
Strong knowledge of venipuncture and capillary blood collection techniques.
Familiarity with medical terminology and laboratory procedures related to blood specimen collection.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
Demonstrated attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to handle time-sensitive tasks efficiently.
Understanding of infection control practices and safety protocols.
Ability to handle high-stress situations with compassion and professionalism.
Willingness to adapt to changing procedures and technologies in the field.
