The client is an organisation that helps to acquire equity stakes in order to fund innovative projects and new businesses.

Your new role

To manage legal risks across the organisation in all functions and across the board and portfolio of companies, including all organisation and group projects, investments and assets. To act as a legal advisor focusing on litigation and arbitration, including across the real estate sector. The role involves providing sound legal advice across a wider range of legal disciplines and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Legal
- Support the GC and Senior Legal Counsel in developing and maintaining the legal framework and ensuring the provision of high-quality legal support across the organisation and its portfolio of companies
- Help the organisation in legal risk management
- Assist in the development and rollout of legal policies and procedures that help to deliver on its commercial and customer promises

Corporate Governance
- Support the GC and Senior Legal Counsel in maintaining corporate governance best practice
- Maintain the corporate register

Generalist Legal Services
- Assist the GC and Legal department in all litigation before the UAE Courts. Responsible for handling all arbitration, real estate tribunals, investigations and all legal proceedings to safeguard the interests of the group
- Instructing and managing external Counsel in relation to litigation, arbitration and investigation matters
- Assisting the GC and the wider team to devise strategies for the conduct of litigation, arbitration and investigative matters
- Provide legal advice including drafting/reviewing/amending contracts related to investment procurement of services and assets, employment and ensuring compliance with legal frameworks and regulatory guidelines
- Establish adherence to applicable laws and regulations, international best practice standards, policies and procedures
- Manage the provision of all legal and regulatory advice in order to minimise financial, legal and reputational risk
- Support the GC and Senior Legal Counsel by keeping up to date with new legislation and regulatory changes that may impact the organisation

Legal Documents
- Draft and maintain template standard documents for frequently used documentation
- Ensure the document library is maintained and complies with applicable internal processes and procedures

Risk Management
- Work in collaboration with the legal and risk team who are focused on non-legal risk to provide support from a legal and regulatory standpoint

Improvement
- Keep abreast of new laws and regulations through continuous legal training
- Be innovative and identify opportunities to contribute to change initiatives, programs and projects taking into account best practices and standards

What you'll need to succeed
- At least 2 years of legal experience gained from a reputable/recognised law firm and a proven background in dispute resolution
- Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from a recognised/reputable university in law
- Active membership from a recognized legal associate or regulatory body from a common law jurisdiction
- Arabic language skills are essential
- Middle Eastern experience
- Experience of real estate disputes would be advantageous
