**Job Purpose**
- Shovel Operators manage heavy machinery, primarily excavating and moving materials in construction or mining sites. Responsibilities include equipment maintenance, safety adherence, and efficient operation to ensure project timelines are met.

**Job Duties**
- Operate a shovel to move materials such as dirt, gravel, and sand
- Ensure that the shovel is in good working condition before starting work
- Follow safety guidelines and protocols at all times
- Perform routine maintenance on the shovel and report any malfunctions or damages to the supervisor
- Communicate effectively with other team members to coordinate tasks and ensure efficient workflow
- Keep track of the amount of materials moved and report progress to the supervisor
- Adhere to project timelines and deadlines
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Take reasonable care of their own safety and health.
- Take reasonable care of the safety and health of persons that may be affected by their acts or omissions at work.
- Co-operate with their employer with respect to any instructions and/or actions taken by the employer to protect the employee and/or comply with OSH requirements.
- Report to their immediate supervisor any situation which they have reason to believe could present a hazard and which they cannot themselves correct.
- Report all OSH incidents and work-related injuries.
- Not intentionally or recklessly interfere with or misuse anything provided at the workplace in the interest of health, safety, or welfare.
