**Job Title: Appetizer Chef (Garde Manger)Job Summary**:
The Appetizer Chef is responsible for preparing and presenting a variety of appetizers, salads, and cold dishes. This role involves creating visually appealing and flavorful starters that align with the restaurant’s menu and culinary style. The Appetizer Chef must work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure that all dishes are prepared in a timely and efficient manner, maintaining the highest standards of quality and presentation.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Menu Development**:

- Collaborate with the Executive Chef or Head Chef to design and develop appetizer menus that complement the restaurant’s overall cuisine.
- Create and innovate new appetizer recipes, incorporating seasonal and local ingredients.
- Ensure that appetizers are well-balanced in terms of flavor, texture, and presentation.
- **Food Preparation**:

- Prepare a wide range of appetizers, including salads, canapés, cold meats, seafood, and other small dishes.
- Use various techniques such as marinating, pickling, and curing to enhance the flavors of ingredients.
- Prepare ingredients for service by washing, chopping, slicing, and dicing as needed.
- Assemble and plate appetizers with precision, paying attention to portion sizes, garnishes, and presentation.
- **Quality Control**:

- Taste and adjust seasoning of appetizers to ensure they meet the restaurant's flavor profile and quality standards.
- Ensure consistency in portion sizes and presentation across all appetizer dishes.
- Monitor the freshness and quality of ingredients, using only the best products available.
- **Kitchen Management**:

- Organize and maintain the cold kitchen area, ensuring that all equipment and tools are clean, sanitized, and in good working order.
- Manage mise en place for the appetizer station, ensuring that all ingredients and tools are prepared before service.
- Work closely with other chefs and kitchen staff to coordinate the preparation and timing of dishes.
- **Inventory Management**:

- Keep track of inventory levels for ingredients used in appetizers and cold dishes.
- Order and replenish stock as needed, ensuring that ingredients are always fresh and available.
- Minimize waste by using ingredients efficiently and creatively repurposing leftovers where possible.
- **Health and Safety Compliance**:

- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including food safety and hygiene standards.
- Ensure that all food is stored, handled, and prepared in compliance with safety guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation, including regular cleaning of cutting boards, knives, and other tools.
- **Customer Interaction**:

- Occasionally interact with customers to gather feedback on appetizers and make adjustments to the menu as needed.
- Customize dishes to accommodate special dietary requests or food allergies.
- **Continual Learning and Innovation**:

- Stay updated on culinary trends and techniques related to appetizers and cold dishes.
- Experiment with new ingredients and methods to create unique and exciting appetizer options.
- Attend culinary workshops, events, and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.

**Qualifications**:

- **Education**: Culinary degree or equivalent experience, preferably with a focus on cold kitchen techniques.
- **Experience**: Several years of experience working in a professional kitchen, with specific expertise in preparing appetizers and cold dishes.
- **Skills**:

- Proficiency in a variety of culinary techniques, including marinating, pickling, curing, and plating.
- Strong understanding of flavor profiles, ingredient combinations, and food presentation.
- Excellent knife skills and attention to detail.
- Creativity in developing and presenting dishes.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- **Language Skills**: Proficiency in English is required; additional language skills can be an asset depending on the location.

**Physical Requirements**:
