Job Purpose

Working on shift - basis. Assist the Supervisor for all daily routine activities. Handling and monitoring vessel and yard activities, loading/discharge of Container/Cargo to/from Vessel for required and improved productivity. Handing, monitoring & recording gate transport activities (parking area, terminal gates) - cargo/containers delivery. Job sheet preparing, invoicing (upon requests). Yard activities participation (reefers, staffing, CFS, agent claiming etc)
- Key Responsibilities
- In absence of supervisor perform the duties of supervisor accordingly.
- A foreman’s job description entails supervising and directing a set of operation team to carry out or execute jobs that are assigned to them.
- The foreman’s responsibilities covers ensuring that individuals who work under him/her carryout their tasks and duties diligently and effectively for successful completion.
- As a leader, the foreman’s role is to carry every worker along on a given task in a professional manner without fear or favor.

Key Interaction
- Monitor yard/vessel discharging/loading activities are according to the plan.
- Storage of container/cargo as per designated areas accordingly.
- Storing/sorting according to order number, consignee, type, size for effective yard plan and delivery.
- Ensure that vessel completes operation in given time frame
- Ensure all terminal equipment & manpower are readily available for operation and are in good condition.
- Arrange the movement of cranes as per the discharge/load plan.
- Ensure the trailers availability between/under crane for smooth operation activity as required.
- Arrange equipment/manpower as per customer’s requirement on hire basis.
- Responsible for trailer movement during loading/discharging at yard to avoid congestion.
- Ensures that container/cargo handling is executed in a timely & cost effective manner.
- Receiving and storing of the export/import cargo at designated areas, check the related documents and arrange required equipment, gears and labours.
- Compare/segregate/store/deliver the quantity and specification of the cargo as per manifest
- Report damage, short, excess or lost cargo.
- Performing other duties as allotted by the Supervisor or Superintendent.
- 24/7 on call in case of any emergency.
- Identify potential hazards and dangerous occurrences at the workplace and comply with safe work instruction/ guideline.
- Adhere to the safety measures identified in the Risk Assessments, Operation procedures and other HSE procedures.
- Comply with the recommended PPE requirements and maintain it in a good hygienic condition.
- Report HSE observation, near miss and incidents/accidents.

- Create working schedule for operation team..
- Place order for needed equipment.
- Measure strength and weaknesses of team under him.
- Assign appropriate tasks to team.
- Ensure that team are up and doing in right direction.
- Ensure that team is always in good progress.
- Keep Sr. Staff updated on job development.
- Make sure that team are completed on or before deadlines.
- Ensure that safety of workers is guaranteed at all times.
