**Job Summary**:
The jobholder will be responsible for the accurate and efficient receipt of merchandise into the retail store or warehouse. The Receiving Associate will play a crucial role in ensuring that all incoming shipments are processed in a timely manner, accurately recorded, and distributed to the appropriate departments or storage locations perform warehouse duties as per guidelines and procedures laid by the company.
**Core Responsibilities**:
The individual ensures that correct invoices and Portable Data Terminal (PDT) are received by the encoder and conducts scanning of supplier barcodes accurately. They conduct blind checks to prevent discrepancies and shrinkage, along with manual checks for Local Purchase Order (LPO) items with fewer products than specified. Goods are meticulously checked for quantity, quality, and expiry as per product guidelines, with a log maintained, including Return to Supplier/Vendor Items (RTS/RTV). Shortages are identified and marked for supervisor approval. They implement brand guidelines and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and participate in inventory and stock takes as needed. Additionally, they maintain an excellent standard of self-hygiene, including proper and clean uniform/appearance.

In the role of a Receiving Associate, possessing basic people management skills can complement the primary responsibilities focused on receiving and inventory management. These skills facilitate effective communication, collaboration, and teamwork within the receiving department and across other areas of the organization. Effective communication enables clear conveyance of expectations, addressing issues, and coordinating tasks efficiently with team members, supervisors, and other departments. Collaborating with colleagues in shipping, inventory management, and purchasing ensures accurate and timely receipt of goods, contributing to productivity and problem-solving. While not formally in a leadership role, demonstrating leadership qualities like initiative, reliability, and motivating others fosters a cohesive and high-performing team. Conflict resolution skills are valuable in addressing disagreements over inventory discrepancies or scheduling conflicts diplomatically and professionally, maintaining a positive work environment. Adaptability and flexibility in adapting to changes in workload, procedures, or technology contribute to maintaining efficiency and effectiveness in the receiving department.
**Functional and Technical Competencies**:
The jobholder is required to attend and complete all mandatory training sessions as mandated by government authorities and the company's operational guidelines. These training sessions are essential for ensuring compliance with legal regulations and company policies, as well as for enhancing job-related skills and knowledge. By actively participating in these training programs, the individual can stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and best practices, thereby contributing to the overall success and safety of the organization. Additionally, adherence to training requirements demonstrates a commitment to professional development and continuous improvement, which are integral to achieving individual and organizational goals.
