An English Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in English Language and Literature to students. The role includes preparing students for academic examinations and equipping them with critical language, communication, and literary analysis skills. **Key Responsibilities**:

- **Curriculum Delivery**:

- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and well-structured lessons in English Language and Literature.
- Teach grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, creative writing, essay writing, and literary analysis.
- Utilize diverse teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
- **Assessment and Evaluation**:

- Design and implement assessments, quizzes, tests, essays, and projects to evaluate student progress.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students on their work, helping them improve their skills.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of student performance and achievements.
- **Classroom Management**:

- Establish a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that encourages student participation and learning.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with school policies, ensuring discipline and respect.
- **Lesson Planning and Development**:

- Develop creative lesson plans and instructional materials that engage students in active learning.
- Incorporate a variety of resources, including technology, literature, and multimedia, to enhance lessons.
- Update and adapt curriculum to reflect contemporary issues, themes, and diverse literary voices.
- **Support and Mentorship**:

- Provide additional academic support for students who require extra help with reading, writing, or comprehension.
- Act as a mentor to students, offering guidance on academic, personal, and future career aspirations.
- **Collaboration and Professional Development**:

- Work collaboratively with other teachers, department heads, and school leadership to align lessons with school-wide goals.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development workshops, and curriculum planning sessions to stay current with best teaching practices.
- Share ideas and strategies to improve teaching quality across the English department.
- **Extracurricular Involvement**:

- Encourage and support students’ involvement in extracurricular activities such as reading clubs, writing competitions, and school publications.
- Organize or participate in school events like book fairs, literature weeks, or drama performances to enhance the students' literary experience.
- **Parent and Guardian Communication**:

- Maintain open communication with parents and guardians regarding students’ academic progress and areas for improvement.
- Attend parent-teacher conferences, school meetings, and other communication events to foster home-school collaboration.

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- **Educational Background**:

- Bachelor’s degree in English, English Literature, Linguistics, or a related field.
- A recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, B.Ed., or equivalent) is preferred.
- **Experience**:

- Prior experience teaching English at the primary or secondary school level is preferred.
- Familiarity with national or international curricula (e.g., GCSE, IB, etc.) is advantageous.
- **Skills**:

- Strong command of English grammar, vocabulary, and literature.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to inspire and engage students in learning.
- Proficiency in using technology and digital tools in the classroom (e.g., Smartboards, Google Classroom).
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
