**Job Summary**:
A Bike Patroller, also known as a Bicycle Patrol Officer, is responsible for patrolling designated areas, such as parks, campuses, neighborhoods, or commercial districts, on a bicycle to ensure safety and security. This role involves conducting proactive patrols, responding to incidents, and interacting with the community to provide assistance and support.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Patrol Duties**:
- Conduct regular patrols of assigned areas on a bicycle to deter crime and ensure public safety.
- Monitor for suspicious activities, hazards, or security breaches and take appropriate action.
**Incident Response**:
- Respond promptly to calls for service, emergencies, or incidents within assigned patrol areas.
- Provide assistance, intervention, or support as needed, including first aid or medical assistance.
**Community Engagement**:
- Interact with community members, visitors, and stakeholders in a courteous and professional manner.
- Provide information, directions, and assistance to individuals and groups as requested.
**Crime Prevention**:
- Identify and report potential security risks or safety hazards, such as unlocked doors, broken lights, or damaged property.
- Implement crime prevention strategies, such as visibility patrols and environmental design principles.
**Enforcement Actions**:
- Enforce rules, regulations, and ordinances within patrol areas, including traffic laws, park rules, and trespassing policies.
- Issue warnings, citations, or summons for violations as necessary and document enforcement actions.
**Report Writing**:
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of patrol activities, incidents, and observations.
- Write clear and concise reports documenting incidents, investigations, and enforcement actions.
**Team Collaboration**:
- Coordinate with other security personnel, law enforcement agencies, and community partners to address security concerns and support joint initiatives.
- Participate in team meetings, trainings, and debriefings to share information and discuss patrol strategies.
**Equipment Maintenance**:
- Ensure bicycles and related equipment, such as lights, helmets, and communication devices, are in good working condition.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance tasks to keep equipment operational and safe.
**Qualifications**:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or customer service is preferred.
- Certification as a Bicycle Patrol Officer or completion of relevant training programs is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to ride a bicycle safely and confidently in various environments and weather conditions.
- Knowledge of basic first aid and emergency response procedures.
- Ability to work independently and make quick decisions under pressure.
- Physical fitness for riding and maneuvering a bicycle for extended periods.
**Working Conditions**:
- Bike Patrollers work outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
- The role involves riding a bicycle for extended periods and patrolling on foot as needed.
- Work hours may include shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on patrol schedules and operational needs.
