**Job Summary**:
The Electrical Draftsman is responsible for creating detailed technical drawings and schematics for electrical systems using computer-aided design (CAD) software. This role involves working closely with electrical engineers and project managers to develop accurate and precise electrical designs for buildings, industrial facilities, or infrastructure projects. The draftsman ensures that all designs meet industry standards, project specifications, and safety regulations.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Drafting and Design**:
1. Prepare detailed electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and layouts based on project specifications and engineer’s instructions.

2. Create plans for electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, control systems, fire alarms, and communication networks.

3. Utilize AutoCAD, Revit, or other drafting software to develop accurate and clear designs.

4. Revise and update electrical drawings and layouts based on project requirements, client feedback, or changes in design.

5. Collaborate with electrical engineers to ensure the designs meet technical requirements and industry standards.

**Project Coordination**:
1. Assist in coordinating with other departments, such as mechanical, plumbing, and civil teams, to ensure proper integration of electrical systems into the overall project design.

2. Support the engineering team by providing technical assistance during the planning and design phases.

3. Prepare as-built drawings at the completion of construction, documenting any changes made during the construction process.

4. Ensure that all drawings are stored and maintained in accordance with company standards and procedures.

**Compliance and Standards**:
1. Ensure that all electrical designs comply with local, state, and federal codes, safety regulations, and building standards.

2. Review and follow project specifications to ensure that all designs meet the required quality and performance standards.

3. Prepare and maintain documentation for permits, certifications, and approvals required for electrical installations.

**Quality Control and Review**:
1. Conduct detailed checks of drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with engineering designs.

2. Review and verify the dimensions, materials, and components specified in the electrical drawings for consistency and compliance with project requirements.

3. Liaise with contractors and suppliers to clarify details in the electrical designs, if necessary.

**Site Support and Coordination**:
1. Provide technical support to construction teams and contractors by interpreting electrical drawings and specifications.

2. Assist in resolving any discrepancies or issues related to electrical designs during the construction phase.

3. Visit construction sites as needed to verify that electrical systems are being installed according to the design specifications.

**Documentation and Reporting**:
1. Maintain organized records of all electrical drawings, revisions, and project documents.

2. Prepare detailed reports and summaries of electrical designs for project managers, engineers, and clients.

3. Update the electrical drawing library with the latest versions and ensure proper file management.

**Continuous Improvement**:
1. Stay updated on advancements in electrical drafting techniques, software tools, and industry standards.

2. Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance drafting skills and knowledge of electrical systems.

3. Suggest improvements to design and drafting processes for better efficiency and accuracy.

**Qualifications**:
1. Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Drafting, or a related field.

2. Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Electrical Draftsman in the construction or engineering industry.

3. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or other computer-aided design software.

4. Strong understanding of electrical systems, components, and industry standards.

5. Knowledge of building codes, electrical codes, and safety regulations.

6. Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.

7. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in drafting.

8. Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and project teams.

9. Time management skills and the ability to meet project deadlines.
