**Purpose of the Job**

The Art Teacher will be responsible for developing in each student an interest in and the ability for creative expression in visual terms, using skills and techniques of artistic expression consistent with school guidelines; to develop artistic understandings and appreciations; to discover and develop talents of students in the field of art.

**Duties and responsibilities**
- Under the guidance of the Principal / Head of Arts/ Curriculum Coordinator _

**Professional Duties and Responsibilities**:
1. Create an entertaining, safe and communicative atmosphere in supervising teaching, learning and safe procedures.

2. Encourage consciousness, understanding, organisation, responsibility, self-reliance, co-operation, teamwork, honesty, understanding and tolerance in art classroom.

3. Plan, deliver and evaluate lessons, maintaining up to date records and forward plans, and delivering the records and plans for inspections to the Head of Department or Principal where is required or requested.

4. Monitor the attendance of students at lessons and ensure that they are doing, to the best of their ability, class work, homework and coursework, and that it is up to date and marked.

5. Review student progress and, addresses the issues, seeks extra help for those who are not performing up to the standard or have special needs. The teacher communicates the students’ cases with the behavioural and educational issues to the Head of Department or Principal, seek an additional advice/ approach from the school’s psychologist.

6. Manage the classroom and the students’ behaviour.

7. Monitor compliance with School rules and regulations.

8. Organise resources in advance, issue textbooks and other resources, keeping records and collecting back at the appropriate time.

10. Write, supervise and mark tests and exams as appropriate.

11. Attend assemblies, meetings, Parent Evenings, presentations and events when and where is required.

12. Attend and support School activities as reasonably requested by the Principal.

13. Complete required by the school reports.

14. Liaise and maintain close communication with other members of staff and, in conjunction with them, organise trips as necessary.

15. Contribute to the design, evaluation and development of Art department, events and exhibitions of the students’ artwork across the school.

16. Cover absent colleagues when necessary.

17. Undertake other tasks and duties as reasonably requested by the Principal.

18. Avoid doing or saying anything that may damage the reputation of the school or its staff.

19. Take a daily register of student attendance.

20. Collate reports and write a class teacher report for each student at the appropriate time.

21. Organise the learning environment and learning resources to create a positive learning environment.

22. Plan, prepare and present lessons that cater for the needs of the whole ability range within their class.

23. Meet requirements for the assessment and record of students’ development.

24. Provide feedback to parents on a student’s progress at parents’ meetings.

25. Work with others to plan and co-ordinate work.

26. Developing students' drawing, colouring, and painting techniques.

27. Providing instruction on the use of media such as graphite and charcoal pencils, as well as oil, acrylic, and watercolour paint.

28. Teaching students about art history.

29. Ensuring that the classroom is clean after each lesson.

30. Monitoring inventory and sourcing art supplies, as needed.

31. Decorating school for events and assisting other RSAD employee for the events decorations at the school where is required.

**Requirements**:
1. Bachelor's degree in Education of the Subject; or

2. Bachelor’s degree in the Subject or a related Subject with Valid teaching license or QFE 6 (Diploma).

3. 3 years’ experience, including 3 consecutive years teaching performance exceeds standards and expectations as evidenced by Performance Appraisal.

4. To pass the personal interview; receive positive feedback on Demo class (if applicable).

5. Preferably has sculpting/ woodcarving knowledge.

The Teacher of Arts should be able to:

- Demonstrated excellence in a variety of art techniques.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Supervise group work.
- Plan and solve problems.
- Work on project extra hours if required.
- Should be able to control the classroom.

- Well-organised;
- Good and appropriate sense of humour;
