**Position Summary**:

- To provide and coordinate patient-centric and evidence-based midwifery care by ensuring compliance to ethical and professional standards set by the regulatory authorities and Policies of University Hospital Sharjah (UHS)
- To assist in the organization and management of the multi-professional care given to mother and babies utilizing the full skills of a registered midwife.
- To conduct Regular antenatal classes in both Arabic and English languages, (number of sessions to be allocated depending on demands).
- To undertake comprehensive healthcare needs assessment of mother and babies, reassessing as appropriate.
- To assist and promote practice sensitive to the needs of mothers and families from multidisciplinary cultural backgrounds
- To be responsible for supporting and developing breastfeeding initiatives

**Summary of Main Duties**:

- Actively participates in upholding and promoting the vision and culture of University Hospital Sharjah (UHS)
- Delivers quality care to antenatal, intrapartum, postpartum women and neonates in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team according to set clinical standards and relevant legislation
- Ensures patient safety by identifying, preventing, and managing risk in accordance with clinical risk policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.
- Conducts an individualized patient care assessment prioritizing the data collection based on patient’s immediate condition or needs with in the time frame specified by facility policy and procedures
- Develops plan of care that is individualized for the patient, reflecting collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, taking care of the patient.
- Facilitates positive patient and family experiences by creating a conducive environment as guided by nursing leadership.
- Creates and contributes to a learning environment that builds employee competence by actively supervising, mentoring, and coaching nursing employees

**Responsibilities**:

- Guidelines and escalates when necessary
- Promotes health and provides education to the woman and her family by communicating relevant information effectively, using language that is readily understood.
- Provides full detailed information to all expectant parents on the packages and services available, paying attention to clinical requirements and financial considerations.
- Checks the booked pregnant women, informs them on the availability of the antenatal classes and assists them in booking the classes, and liaising with insurance, cashier to learn about the packages.
- Visits the antenatal women in the Female Ward and provides them with the education according to their needs.
- Organizes and provides Antenatal education, Birth plan discussion, Maternity tours (including the Female Ward, Labour & Delivery (L&D), Operating Theatre, Emergency Room, NICU and the VIP suites (if required).
- Receives phone calls from women to answer clinical related questions, and Breastfeeding advice.
- Provides support/counseling service to expectant parents, with referral to clinical specialists as required.
- As required, provides engagement with the community of Sharjah for the maternity services available at UHS, including corporate clients, community groups and social clubs.

**Position Requirements/Qualifications**:

- Relevant Bachelor’s Degree as a Registered Midwife or Diploma of Nursing and a post graduate certification in midwifery
- Minimum 5 years of experience with at least 2 years as a community midwife.
- UAE experience is an advantage
- Valid BLS

- Basic data management & analytical skills
- Telephonic Etiquette principles
- Presenting Skills
- Mandatory Computer skills (including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Typing skills, Internet)
- Experience with an Electronic Medical Record is an advantage
