Streamline the fragrance compounding by developing a fragrance database.
Maintain and calibrate lab and field equipment and document calibration to ensure equipment runs optimally.
Smell and re-smell samples in air-filtered rooms to facilitate the proper evaluation of perfume characteristics.
Maintain continuous improvement within the department by identifying creative ways to reduce costs and improve efficiency by streamlining processes and procedures.
Work with cross-functional teams to ensure timely completion of projects and submission of highest-quality fragrance samples to clients.
Evaluate the quality of odors emitted by aromatic chemicals.
Follow the set standards for production and the exact particulars of the formula for preparing the perfume.
Supervises the staff involved in compounding and distilling the fragrance and evaluates the batch sheets provided by the staff compounding the fragrance before forwarding it for distillation.
Perform analysis of aromatic chemicals, ensure the manufacturing process conforms to safety standards and take quality control measures.
Compares odor color of current sample with samples of previous batches.
Rejects batches not meeting criteria, and notifies distillation personnel to redistill product.
May devise production formulas be designated, Creative Perfumer.
Skills Required
Strong knowledge of a large variety of fragrance ingredients
Knowledge of combining smells in an attractive manner
