**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Prepare and maintain proper professional and administrative procedures as required by and to satisfy JCI, HAAD, International Patient Safety goal standards and the UAE Government’s rules and regulations.
- Participates as the medical authority on pharmaceuticals in the planning and implementation of integrated preventive-curative medical care programs and medical therapies.
- Incumbent has the principal responsibility for assuring the organization’s compliance and adherence to the UAE Government’s law, regulations, directives, and Ministerial decisions as directly related to pharmaceuticals, narcotics, controlled and psychotropic drugs.
- The pharmacist will monitor patients on multiple drug therapy regimens for drug interaction, perform drug usage evaluation, drug-food interaction.
- Respond to all code resuscitations.
- The pharmacist will perform full range of pharmaceutical services independently without technical direction or review under the general administrative supervision of the chief pharmacist.
- To deal with appropriate dosage and frequency of analgesics and opiate mediations to make sure that the patient will get the best pain relief and the least degree of side effects.
- To deal with dosage conversion.
- To identify noxious drugs and perform their subsequent safer drug replacement and supervising the correct dosage and administration of drug therapies.
- To perform sterile compounding of intravenous administration under aseptic technique.
- Advises Physicians on equivalents or substitute drugs. Is available to the entire staff, Physicians and Nurses, to answer their questions on pharmaceuticals and the compounding of special prescriptions.
- Reviews drug usage patterns and suggests control when needed
- Assures drug preparation/dispensation areas throughout the assigned area are devoid of all outdated or otherwise unusable drugs by frequent inspection of nursing drug cabinets, emergency trays and crash carts.
- Recognizes apparent chemical and/or physical changes that certain preparations undergo during storage and removes them to prevent them from reaching the patient.
- The pharmacist will perform limited administrative duties that include maintaining statistical records of workload, generating drug utilization reports, providing drug information and discharge counseling, preparing documentation, maintaining patient profile and participating in pharmacy education programs.
- Strictly observes organization’s medical regulations and policies especially those related to infection control, patient safety, patient assessment and patient care.
- Reports to and receives administrative guidance from the head pharmacist
- Spontaneous dispensing of some medications.
- Dispensing medications to patients after checking and counseling.
- Answering all patients’ questions.
- Ensuring proper management of near expiry drugs.
- Compounding medications.
- Responsible for handling vaccines in pharmacy.
- Performs other miscellaneous duties as requested by the head pharmacist
