We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Government Affairs and Strategic Communications, to support our growing Middle East and Africa business.

Reporting to the CEO and sitting on the regional executive committee, the Head of Government Relations and Strategic Communications, MEA will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive strategies to enhance CIGNA Healthcare MEA relationships with government entities and key regulatory and industry stakeholders.

This role involves advocating for CIGNA Healthcare MEA interests, awareness of regulatory and policy issues and their impact through stakeholder management and driving the strategic communications agenda to support business objectives.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Government Relations:

- Develop and implement a strategic government relations plan to support CIGNA Healthcare MEA business objectives.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with government officials, regulators, and policymakers.
- Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments affecting the health insurance industry.
- Advocate for CIGNA Healthcare MEA positions on key policy issues and coordinate responses to proposed legislation and regulations.
- Represent CIGNA Healthcare MEA in meetings, conferences, and other forums with government entities and industry associations.
- Strategic Communications:

- Develop and execute a comprehensive strategic communications plan to enhance CIGNA Healthcare MEA reputation, brand equity and influence in the MEA region.
- Oversee media relations, public affairs, and internal communications activities.
- Craft and deliver key messages to diverse stakeholders, including government officials, industry partners, and the general public.
- Craft business communications and presentations on behalf of CEO office, for internal, external stakeholders.
- Manage crisis communications and provide counsel to senior leadership on communication strategies during critical situations.
- Collaborate with the marketing and public relations teams to ensure alignment of messaging and branding efforts.
- Stakeholder Engagement:

- Identify and engage with key stakeholders, including government agencies, industry associations, NGOs, and community leaders.
- Build coalitions and partnerships to advance CIGNA Healthcare MEA policy and business objectives.
- Organize and participate in stakeholder meetings, briefings, and events to promote CIGNA Healthcare MEA interests.
- Partner with functional stakeholders in global government affairs and marketing to ensure a coherent strategy and execution.
- Leadership and Management:

- Develop and manage budgets for government relations and communications activities.
- Provide regular updates and reports to senior leadership on government relations and communications initiatives and outcomes.

**EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE & OTHER REQUIREMENTS**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Communications, Business Administration or a related field is required; Masters degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years experience in government relations, public affairs, or strategic communications, with a significant portion of that experience in the MEA region.
- Proven track record of success in engaging with government officials and influencing public policy.
- Strong understanding of the health insurance industry and regulatory environment in the MEA region.
- Experience in crisis management and strategic communications.
- Has an entrepreneurial, growth and ‘can do’ mindset and will be comfortable thinking outside the box.
- Creativity and the willingness to bring new ideas to the table.
