Accountable To

To ensure that all navigation aids (floating and satellite), vessels and associated yard activities in Abu Dhabi waters under the control of Abu Dhabi Ports are perfectly maintained in order to minimize the number of breakdowns. The role holder is also responsible to ensure adherence to the international navigation standards while maintaining the navigational aids.

Responsible for

**Core Responsibilities**:
Prepare and install mooring and lighting equipment’s on AtoNs to ensure successful navigation of vessels that are entering the ports.

Focus on the major core units within the Mina Zayed Port and carry out the navigational duties accordingly

Coordinate all yard activities with the help of AtoN technician / operator - involving crane operations, welding and painting activities

Ensure all navigational aids are working properly and update the team with any irregularities in the functioning of these aids

Working Relationship

Assist the Manager of Navigation Services in surveying the navigational routes and is involved in maintenance activities and emergency call outs

Ensure implementation of procedures to be followed for AtoN maintenance activities.

Act as back driver for the speed boats and also as ADPC’s reprehensive for all vessels

Ensure vessel availability and supervise the AtoN maintenance database. Plan all maintenance programs for AtoN activities

Ensure that any incident reported to catered to and a record for the same is

updated in the database

Objectives and Role Profile

Work with the maintenance technicians in carrying out timely repairs to the navigational aids

Work with the Manager of Navigation Services to identify activities to be outsourced to an external vendor and also be involved in supervision of these activities

Aware of IALA standards and procedures and aware of the Buoys / Beacons Marking System A

Assist in the quality control of AtoNs in accordance with the IALA Standards and ISO 9001:2008

Update AtoN system frequently with IALA Standards and ensure that the AtoN team is regularly trained and educated in any changes taking place.

Key Tasks and Performance Indicators

Ensure that all operations, on board vessels and in workshop, are run as per HSE requirements.

Adheres to Safe working instruction and SOPs.

Adheres to near miss and incident reporting.

Diploma or higher diploma degree in Marine
