Anesthesia Technologist

Anesthetic technicians are involved with all aspects of the delivery of a patient’s per operative anesthetics care, (1) taking into account the patients’ religious and cultural beliefs and respective their right to medical privacy and dignity at all time.

**Prior to Anesthesia**
Anesthetic technicians prepare equipment needed for the patient to safely undergo anesthesia. This involves:

- Checking and setting up the anesthetic machine
- Preparing intravenous drugs under Anesthetist supervision preparing intravenous therapy administration equipment
- Preparing a range of devices to maintain the patient’s airway (e.g. laryngeal mask, endotrachael tube)
- Communicating with the patients when they arrive into the operating theatre
- Establishes peripheral intravenous access.

**During Anesthesia**

The anesthetic technician’s role includes assisting with anesthetist for
- Inducing and maintaining adequate anesthesia, by injecting medicines under supervision of Anesthetist.
- Establishing and securing an airway.
- Making sure that patients are positioned in such a way NOT to cause discomfort or injury during their procedure.
- Monitoring patients’ vital signs and anesthesia depth.
- Temperature monitoring and regulation.
- Collection of patient’s blood samples for analysis when required.Administering intravenous fluids, blood & blood products as per the orders of anesthetist.
- **After Anesthesia**

The anesthetic technician’s role includes assisting with:

- Waking the patient.
- Removing airway devices.
- Transferring patients to post-operative care units.
- Anesthetic Technician certificate.
- Current License to practice in Dubai, UAE.
- Minimum 2 years experience after qualification.
- Must be fluent in spoken & written English. Spoken Arabic advantageous
