**Role** The Vice Principal will assist the Principal in the leadership and management of the school with an emphasis on improving learning and progress of students. The Vice Principal will also exercise a leadership and motivational role in the direction of the school self-evaluation and improvement.

**Responsibilities** The Vice Principal will:

- Embed the school’s definition of learning at all times and ensure every teacher knows it, understands it, and applies it in lessons.
- Lead on the implementation of the school’s 8 Learning Principles, establishing a clear and purposeful learning environment in all phases.
- Take overall responsibility for the quality of teaching and learning - monitoring and evaluating its effectiveness and impact across the school.
- Support, coach, hold accountable, and develop the teaching team and middle leaders to deliver amazing learning and ensure good progress.
- Be fully accountable for the quality of learning and behavior throughout the school.
- Carry out regular lesson observations (50 each term) and provide feedback in relation to 8 competencies so that lessons are consistently ‘good.’
- Submit lesson observation information and analyze data to plan improvements and ensure maximum impact on learning.
- Analyze the lesson observation in light of the attainment data to address weaknesses.
- Work closely with the Behavior Team to ensure effective behavior management.

- Proven track record in raising standards of learning and behavior
- Strong understanding of UAE Framework for inspection

**Experience**
- Recent experience of leading learning in a private school environment in UAE
- A consistently good or outstanding classroom practitioner able to lead by example
- Experience of curriculum development and leadership
- Excellent student and adult management skills
- Superb communication skills

**Knowledge and Understanding**
- Good knowledge and understanding of Standards Based curricula
- Excellent understanding of how children and adults learn best
- An understanding of how target-setting and the effective use of data can raise standards
- Knowledge of effective pedagogy, including innovative and engaging approaches to learning and curriculum

**Skills**
- Ability to build positive relationships with the team
- Ability to deal with sensitive issues and disclosures of information in a professional manner
- Skills in school self-evaluation and improvement planning
- Able to adapt to difficult situations and circumstances
