**To participate and encourage staff participation in Quality Improvement programs.
- Coordinate care delivered by the multidisciplinary team.
- To report to OB/Gynaecology doctor/ Internal Medicine any changes and problems '“ refer patient back for medical care when needed.
- The Lactation Consultant will also be expected to contribute to the wider corporate and organizational development needs as appropriate within the scope of service.
- Leads the hospital to achieve and maintain Mother and Baby Friendly Hospital status.
- Supports community based projects and education.
- The Lactation Consultant will be expected to ensure compliance with the requirement of the Health and Safety regulation of the hospital.
- Plans, organizes and delivers lactation management services to all breastfeeding patients, both in-patient and out-patient.
- Plans, teaches and evaluates expectant and new breastfeeding mothers.
- Creates a milieu that promotes learning for staff and patients.
- Upholds the organizations customer service standards at all time.
- To implement and demonstrate all infection control measures and practice.
- Possesses effective oral, written and IT communication skills.
- Demonstrate knowledge of basic skills and techniques.
- Meets work demands and is able to follow directions accurately.
- Maintains and records the functional integrity of all equipment including but not limited to routine daily, weekly, and monthly checks as well as routine inspection by biomedical engineers and maintenance for these items such as breast pumps.
- Maintains sufficient inventory of material supplies and equipment for performance of duties.
- Reporting shortage of materials to supervisors at earliest convenience, ordering and approving replenishment when necessary.
- Assessing and ordering appropriate materials/equipment when needed.
- Creates an environment that promotes learning for staff and patients.
- Conducts bedside lactation rounds daily.
- Provides lactation counseling to mothers with breastfeeding problems.
- Plans, teaches and conducts in-service education for nursing staff.
- Plans, organizes and delivers lactation management services to all breastfeeding patients, both in-patient and out-patient.
- Participates in breastfeeding week / seminars / lectures / training.
- Participates in ante-natal classes.
- Promotes and conducts breastfeeding, ante-natal classes and other programmes in the community.

**Education Requirements**
- Certified as a Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
- Bachelor's degree in Midwifery or Nursing from an accredited school
- Registered Midwife preferred

**Licenses, Registrations & Certifications Requirements**
- Current DoH License as Registered Midwife or Nurse
- Current BLS certificate.

**Professional Experience Required (Relevant to the Job)**
- At least 3 years' experience as a lactation consultant.
- At least 6 years' experience as a Midwife or Registered Nurse
