**SUSTAINABILITY MANAGER - DUBAI**
JOB DESCRIPTION - SUSTAINABILITY MANAGER
Job Summary
This role is responsible for managing the social and environmental impact of the company on its entire supply chain. One of the main pillars of the organization is to reduce CO2 Emissions 50% by 2032 and attain Net Zero by 2045. Your job exists in managing and executing the carbon reduction plan to meet this ambition. Next to that, you also implement actions on waste reduction, resource management, biodiversity, freshwater intake reduction, zero waste to landfill, circular economy and zero red listed chemicals.
Scope of the Role
Middle East, Africa, and Southern Asia ( MEASA)
Location: based in Dubai
**Responsibilities**:
- Closely monitoring country and plant-based actions together with local peers towards sustainability targets.
- Leading and reporting steering committees in different platforms from plant level to company headquarters.
- Responsible for the CO2 reduction strategy, implementation of appropriate measurements and reporting on them, to reduce the organization’s CO2 emissions in line with its Net Zero CO2 targets.
- Researches and recommends required Carbon emission reduction initiatives considering the financial impact and related investments.
- Responsible for the framework and improvements in waste reduction, resource management and biodiversity related to the organization’s global production sites and offices.
- Advising and assisting other plants in 16 countries on sustainability topics and issues.
- Support in bringing together and coordinating all requirements and work processes within the plants as well as support in harmonizing the integrated management system.
- Carrying out data collection and compilation of statistics.
- Being an efficient team player working well with all stakeholders (central team, regional team, local team, top management, different functions, sites, suppliers, local administration ).
- Participation/support in updating, documenting, and implementing the environmental program (including the environmental goals).
- Participation in uncovering the potential for improvement and savings in the areas of waste, energy, and resource management.
- Participation in the annual update of the environmental impact assessment.
- Developing and managing projects on environmental and social sustainability in the supply chain in line with the sustainability targets of the organization.
- Increasing the implementation of good social practices to provide better working and living conditions.
- Prepared and managed P&L of the department.
- Assisting in preparing sustainability technology studies to support investment preparation
- Reporting to regional Technical Director, with close interaction with Regional CEO.
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor’s Degree in any kind of engineering, preferably in chemical, environmental or similar engineering degree
- At least 2 years of experience in sustainability projects and their implementation
- High interest in sustainability and motivated to make a positive impact
- Strong communication and presentation skills. Ensure efficient and effective communication with relevant stakeholders on the progress of projects & strategy, taking appropriate action in case of conflicts, if any
- Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and data driven
- Strong leadership skills, direction setting and prioritization ability, ambition, self-motivated, self-confident and performance-oriented
- Strong and proven experience on project management covering set of countries
- Ability to drive change, change management skills, influencer&team player for diverse span of hierarchies within organization.
- Adequate knowledge on environmental legislation (EU), energy management and procurement related with sustainability
- Experience in the implementation of a whole system for the sustainability project is highly advantage
- Theoretical and practical knowledge on one (or more) following fields: Thermodynamic, thermal processing and industrial processing, Combustion, Steam, Electricity optimization and management, Global energy optimization or Waste management is nice to have
- Flexible, both in task diversification and travelling
- T-shape thinking: combines good knowledge of/skills in sustainability with a broad interest whilst being good at working with others in a collaborative way
- Take ownership, work both in the team and independently
- Fluency in English, both verbally and in writing
