**Job Title**: Indian Chef

**Job Summary**:
The Indian Chef is responsible for creating and preparing a wide range of traditional and contemporary Indian dishes, ensuring authenticity and exceptional flavor. This role requires expertise in Indian cuisine, including knowledge of regional specialties, spices, and cooking techniques. The Indian Chef works closely with the kitchen team to deliver high-quality meals that meet the expectations of customers and uphold the standards of the establishment.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Menu Development**:
1. Design and develop a diverse menu of Indian dishes, including appetizers, main courses, breads, and desserts.

2. Create and introduce seasonal and special menus featuring traditional and innovative Indian recipes.

3. Ensure that all dishes are authentically Indian, while also catering to local tastes and dietary requirements.

**Meal Preparation**:
1. Prepare and cook a variety of Indian dishes, including curries, tandoori items, biryanis, and vegetarian options, using traditional techniques and equipment such as tandoor ovens and kadais.

2. Ensure the proper use and blending of spices to achieve the distinct flavors characteristic of Indian cuisine.

3. Oversee the preparation of accompaniments such as chutneys, pickles, and breads (naan, roti, paratha).

**Quality Control**:
1. Maintain high standards of food quality, taste, and presentation for all Indian dishes.

2. Monitor the freshness and quality of ingredients, ensuring that all food prepared is of the highest standard.

3. Conduct regular tastings and make adjustments to recipes as necessary to maintain authenticity and customer satisfaction.

**Collaboration and Team Management**:
1. Work closely with the kitchen staff, including sous chefs and line cooks, to ensure efficient and timely preparation of meals.

2. Train and mentor kitchen staff on Indian cooking techniques, spice usage, and presentation styles.

3. Collaborate with the Head Chef to plan and execute special events, themed nights, or catering services featuring Indian cuisine.

**Inventory Management**:
1. Manage inventory levels of Indian spices, ingredients, and specialty items, ensuring that stock is always fresh and available.

2. Work with suppliers to source high-quality ingredients, including spices, meats, and produce.

3. Control food costs by minimizing waste, optimizing portion sizes, and using ingredients efficiently.

**Health and Safety Compliance**:
1. Adhere to all food safety and hygiene standards, ensuring that the kitchen is clean, organized, and safe.

2. Ensure that all food is prepared and stored according to health and safety regulations, including proper temperature control.

3. Maintain accurate records of ingredients used, particularly for customers with food allergies or dietary restrictions.

**Customer Interaction**:
1. Occasionally interact with customers to gather feedback on the Indian dishes, making adjustments to the menu based on their preferences.

2. Provide recommendations to customers on pairing dishes with beverages and other menu items.

3. Assist with front-of-house events, cooking demonstrations, or customer engagement activities related to Indian cuisine.

**Innovation and Development**:
1. Stay updated on the latest trends in Indian cuisine and culinary techniques, incorporating new ideas into the menu.

2. Experiment with fusion dishes that combine Indian flavors with other cuisines, appealing to a broader audience.

3. Participate in culinary competitions, food festivals, or other events to showcase the restaurant's Indian cuisine.

**Cleaning and Maintenance**:
1. Ensure that all kitchen equipment used in the preparation of Indian dishes is cleaned and maintained regularly.

2. Follow proper procedures for disposing of waste, particularly in the handling of spices and other strong-smelling ingredients.

3. Perform regular checks of kitchen equipment, ensuring that it is in good working order.

**Qualifications**:
