Sharjah English School is a small, not for profit community school in the heart of the United Arab Emirates.

We are seeking a dynamic, passionate and experienced Head of Department lead our Upper KS2 team of caring and innovative educators.

**Professional experience**
- An outstanding classroom practitioner, skilled in adapting teaching to meet learners’ needs
- An in-depth and up to date knowledge of the English National Curriculum and the skills to make it relevant and engaging for all learners
- A track record of initiating and implementing strategies to develop the quality of teaching and learning
- Experience of developing a broad, balanced and child-centred curriculum
- A strong personal presence and high level interpersonal skills
- An educational leadership qualification such as NPQML/ LT/ SL (desirable)

**Personal qualities and skills**
- An ability to articulate a clear vision of excellence that sets high standards for all pupils and staff
- An ambitious and diligent professional who can influence, motivate and inspire others
- A good team player
- Able to work positively and effectively with students and parents, outside agencies and colleagues
- An ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritise appropriately and meet deadlines
- Commitment to issues of equity & working with culturally diverse families
- A strong personal presence and high level interpersonal skills
- Confident and articulate in communicating with others

**Essential requirements**
- A certified UK teaching qualification, at degree level such as B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE and Qualified Teacher Status (or equivalent)
- At least three years of full-time classroom teaching experience.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils.

The contract includes a competitive tax-free salary, fully furnished accommodation, an annual return flight, private health insurance and up to two full school scholarships.
