Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

**1. Financial Strategy & Planning**
- Develop and implement financial strategies to support company goals and enhance shareholder value.
- Conduct detailed financial analysis to inform business strategy, including profitability analysis, cash flow projections, and ROI assessment for major capital investments.
- Collaborate with leadership on long-term strategic planning, forecasting, and budgeting to ensure optimal allocation of resources.
- **2. Accounting and Financial Reporting **_
- Oversee accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Implement robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

**3. Budgeting and Forecasting**
- Lead the budgeting process, ensuring alignment with operational and strategic goals.
- Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budgets, identifying variances and advising on corrective actions where needed.
- Conduct regular forecasting and provide insightful reports to support business continuity planning and risk management.

**4. Taxation and Compliance**
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of tax returns and manage tax-related issues, including VAT, withholding taxes, and other local tax regulations specific to the oil and gas industry.
- Stay updated with relevant local and international regulations, advising on compliance requirements.
- Coordinate audits and work closely with external auditors to ensure clean and timely audit reports.

**5. Cost Control & Optimization**
- Implement cost-control measures and conduct cost-benefit analyses, particularly concerning production costs, inventory management, and operational expenses.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize financial processes and reduce waste.
- Evaluate and negotiate major contracts and agreements, ensuring that terms are favorable and in line with the company’s financial objectives.

**6. Cash Flow and Treasury Management**
- Manage the company’s cash flow to ensure liquidity and optimal utilization of funds, addressing short-term and long-term funding needs.
- Oversee banking relationships and ensure effective treasury management, including foreign exchange risk management, given the sector’s exposure to global market fluctuations.

**7. Risk Management and Analysis**
- Assess financial risks associated with the oil and gas sector, including commodity price volatility, currency fluctuations, and regulatory risks.
- Work with operations and project teams to develop financial models that evaluate the impact of operational decisions on overall business performance.
- Develop and implement hedging strategies to mitigate financial risks as needed.

**8. Team Management and Development**
- Lead and mentor the finance and accounting team, ensuring high performance, accountability, and continuous development.
- Promote a culture of ethical financial stewardship and collaboration within the department.
- Facilitate cross-functional training to enhance team competencies, particularly in industry-specific financial practices.

**Qualifications and Skills**
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. A Master’s degree (e.g., MBA in Finance) is highly preferred.
- Professional Certifications: CPA, CMA, ACCA, or CFA is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 12-18 years in finance and accounting, with at least 5 years in a managerial position in the oil & gas/EPC sector.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of financial practices in the oil and gas industry, including familiarity with regulatory requirements, commodity market dynamics, and sector-specific cost structures.
- Technical Skills: ERP systems and advanced knowledge of MS Excel, financial modeling, and analysis is an added advantage.
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and develop actionable insights.
- Leadership Skills: Proven track record in leading, motivating, and developing teams in a dynamic environment.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey financial insights to non-financial stakeholders.

**Preferred Competencies**
- Knowledge of IFRS and GAAP standards, specifically in oil and gas.
- Experience in project finance and investment appraisal.
- Familiarity with financial instruments and derivatives for risk management in commodities.
