Clinical Assistant

**Administrative Activities:
To assist Physician in clinic including accessing, adding, and modifying the patient medical records under the physician’s supervision.
Request the necessary investigation for the patient.
To assist the provision of high-quality care to patients and their families under the direction and supervision of the Physician/ Registered Nurse/ Midwifes.
3.4 Demonstrate a range of skills to meet the needs of patients whilst promoting dignity, privacy, and respect.
3.5 To provide a range of healthcare and non-nursing duties, ensuring efficient and effective service to the ward/department at all times.
3.6 To assist with administration and non-nursing duties.
3.7 To perform basic care under the direction of Physician/ Registered Nurse/ Midwife.
3.8 To assist all patients who are able, towards independence and activity under the direction of the physician/Registered Nurse/Midwife.
3.9 To provide patient comfort by utilizing resources and materials; transporting patients; answering patients call and requests; reporting observation of the patient to the team leader.
3.10 To assist patient transfer to other departments.
3.11 To accompany patients who are ready for discharge.
3.12 To transport equipment and patient records between departments.
3.13 To support the registered nurse staff and ward clerk in the clerical,
administrative and receptionist duties in the ward.
3.14 To assist in maintenance of stocks and non-medical supplies.
3.15 To develop and utilize good communication skills and receive and
pass on telephone message.
3.16 To correctly use aids and equipment supplied for patients. Report needs and obvious defects of this equipment to the Registered Nurse/ Midwife in charge.
3.17 To cover the duties of the ward clerk in absence.
3.18 To advice the Registered Nurse/ Midwife in charge of malfunctioning equipment.
3.19 To liaise with the Registered Nurse/ Midwifes in charge in the assessment of equipment and medical consumable items requirements.
3.20 To ensure appropriate utilization of resources effectively and efficiently.
3.21 To provide positive patient experience through the delivery of high-quality customer service.
3.22 To identify unsafe care practices and contribute to corrective actions.
3.23 Observe and maintain confidentiality of information data relating to patients, staff, service and the the organization.
3.24 To appropriately escalate identified concerns according to level of urgency.
3.25 To demonstrate an understanding of positive health and promote positive health.
3.26 To ensure continuity of care, the clinic assistant must update the physician/midwife in charge of any task, procedures and advice given to the patient and his/ her family.
3.27 To work within the current policies issued by hospital, reporting any sickness and accidents to the physician/Registered nurse/midwife and Nurse Manager.
3.28 To liaise with nursing colleagues and other professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, local requirements and JCI standards.
3.29 To participate in any other duties that you may be asked to undertake by physician/ Senior nursing staff within the scope of practice.
3.30 To ensure that patients/ clients belongings and valuebale are kept safely, adhering to local procedures.
3.31 To be able to administer and seek advice on the appropriate measures in an emergency.
3.32 To ensure that patient/clients
3.33 Privacy maintained and that dignity and freedom of choice is enhanced.
3.34 To report all changes in patients’ condition to the physician/Registered nurse/ Midwife.
3.35 To maintain knowledge, skills and accept responsibility for own education and career development.

3.38 To process clear understanding and commitment to NMC’ policy. Accepts and recognizes the legal limitations and ethical parameters of the role.
3.39 Demonstrate effective oral and written communications skills.
3.40 Demonstrate flexibility in meeting work demands and able to work as a team.
3.41 Demonstrate understanding of cultural differences.
3.42 Takes direction from the Registered nurse/ midwife in problem solving.
3.43 Maintains confidentiality at all times.
3.44 Be informed on health & safety regulation affecting the unit in which they work.
3.45 Have full knowledge of fire precautions and regulations.
3.46 Be familiar with all types of Hospital codes and know how to telephone for emergency services.
3.47 The Clinic Assistant will also be expected to contribute to the wider corporate and organizational development needs as appropriate within the scope of service.
3.48 The Clinic assistant will be expected to ensure compliance with the requirement of the health and safety regulations of the hospital.
