Manager, Data Architecture

**Main Duties**
- Standard Duties:

- Supervise and guide the team with the overall performance accountability of subordinates
- Conduct annual appraisals and support in setting individual development plan and targets of subordinates
- Support the unit head in ensuring appropriate staffing levels, conducting interviews and hiring of new staff
- Support in development, implementation and ensure adherence of policies and procedures
- Department Specific:

- Research, design, document, and modify software specifications throughout the production lifecycle.
- Participation in the software development lifecycle: implementation, tests, documentation, maintenance of software in the GUI, business logic and database layers.
- Handle the development and maintenance of user manuals and guidelines.
- Produce clear, readable and maintainable code
- Analyse and amend software errors in a timely and accurate fashion and provide status reports where required.
- Develop database solutions to store and retrieve information
- Install and configure information systems to ensure functionality
- Migrate data from legacy systems to new solutions
- Design conceptual and logical data models and flowcharts
- Define security and backup procedures
- Provide operational support

**Work Experience Requirements**
- 12+ years of experience in professional database design and development
- Experience in working as part of a small to medium-sized development team
- Experience in health insurance sector

**Licensure / Certification Requirements**
Relevant technologies certifications are a plus

**Education** Bachelor degree in Computer Science, engineering or a related technical discipline **Skills & Competencies**
- Strong commitment to deliver high quality, even under time pressure
- Passionate Data Architect who keeps him/her-self informed about new industry trends
- Very good knowledge about software engineering best practices:

- Design for long-term maintainability
- Design for high scalability and robustness Ability to
- design and coding conventions without supervisor intervention
- Application of software design patterns and best practices
- Version control and configuration management
- Source code version control system (SVN, Bitbucket)
- Basic knowledge about software development methodologies like the Rational Unified Process and Scrum
- Very good command of written and spoken English; knowledge of Arabic language is an advantage
- Very good analytical, planning, forecasting, execution and problem solving skills
- Flexible and able to work under pressure
- Respect and promote trust and confidentiality
- Results oriented whilst ensuring high quality of work and able to "think out of the box"
- Strong level of customer service orientation and professionalism in all interactions
- Able to work in a multi-cultural environment and promote teamwork and knowledge sharing in order to achieve goals and deliverables
- Good knowledge of health insurance concepts
- Experience and knowledge in PL/SQL and.NET API creation
- Advanced SQL and be able to write complex logic using SQL as part of ETL, and use SQL effectively to perform complex data analysis and discovery
- Ability to troubleshoot, optimize and performance-tune existing SQL code
- Ability to perform data analysis/discovery and communicate results in business friendly terms
- This job requires access to confidential and sensitive information, requiring ongoing discretion and secure Information Management.
- Very good knowledge in a number of the following technologies:

- Very good knowledge about the features and limitations of the Oracle and/or SQL Server Database
- Strong knowledge of software implementation best practices
