**Job: Bobcat Operator**

Bobcat operators are responsible for operating a variety of heavy equipment. They commonly use bobcats to move dirt, gravel and other materials around construction sites or other areas where they’re working.Bobcat operators must be able to follow instructions from supervisors and engineers while also making quick decisions about how best to complete their assigned tasks.

**Job Duties**
- Operating equipment such as tractors, bulldozers, backhoes, motor graders, scrapers, and other machinery to perform demolition, excavation, land clearing, and grading tasks
- Inspecting equipment to identify mechanical problems that may occur during operation
- Interpreting blueprints, maps, and plans to determine needed site measurements or construction layouts
- Training others in proper safety procedures and equipment use
- Operating tractors equipped with hydraulic front end loaders, backhoes, or bulldozers to dig ditches or trenches for pipelines or cables
- Operating a variety of heavy machinery including backhos, bulldozers, graders, and loaders to construct roads or clear land for construction projects
- Operating cranes and other construction equipment to move materials into place for construction projects
- Operating a range of construction equipment including excavators, front-end loaders, backhoes, bulldozers, scrapers, forklifts, cranes, trucks, and tractors
- Operating earthmoving equipment such as bulldozers, backhoes, and scrapers to excavate and clear land for various purposes such as building construction projects and utility projects such as laying pipelines or cable lines
