Sommelier

_**Responsibilities**:_
- Assist in creating and updating the wine list in coordination with Wine Manager, Operations Manager, and Retail Manager.
- Act as the store wine expert, able to readily assist wine customers to determine needs and make recommendations.
- Develops a strong customer base and builds relationships to maximize repeat visits, ensuring a positive internal and external customer experience.
- Assisting, advising customers to choose the best, different wine varieties and prices.
- Knowledgeable about the proper storing of wines to maintain wine quality.
- Responsible to provide leadership and product knowledge training with existing team
- Knowledgeable in negotiating purchase prices with vendors.
- Knowledgeable on all wine pricing, signage, vintage updates, and display and can communicate to customers.
- Organizing, participating and coordinating wine tasting events or wine fair, as when required.
- Competent with classic food and wine pairing strategies.
- Regularly communicates with Retail Manager to keep informed on all sales, promotions, and campaign.
- Ensures company standards are met for store at all times
- Communicates all wine out of stock issues and opportunities to Retail Manager in a timely manner.
- _**Requirements**:_
- Experience as a Sommelier or similar role
- Certification as a Sommelier or degree in hospitality is a plus
- Background in customer service, hospitality or the wine industry
- Demonstrates exceptional service and selling skills
- Passionate about wine, is confident, and has strong organizational skills
- Extensive knowledge of different wines, local and international wineries
- Understanding of the winemaking process
- Good communication skills
