Mobility Mentors

Who is a Mobility Mentor? This is a role filled by an individual that first and foremost has relocated at some point in their own life. They have experienced crossing borders, uprooting their social networks, starting a new one, and adapting to new cultures, languages, and environments. This is someone who has felt the struggles and triumphs of relocation and therefore is equipped to help others through the same process for the very first time.

What does a Mobility Mentor Do? You will be matched by BETTERGO’s unique AI learning tool to an individual that is planning a relocation into your area, either your country of residence or even city. You will be responsible for hosting milestone virtual meetings with your partnered transferee through each key stage of the relocation; Preparation, Transit, Settling-in. You will be their relocation therapist to look after their wellbeing on this journey.

As a Mobility Mentor at BetterGo, you will play a pivotal role in empowering relocating employees to navigate their journey with confidence, providing essential emotional and cultural support during their transition. Your primary responsibility is to act as a trusted guide and advocate, fostering an environment that eases the challenges of relocation. Your expertise will be instrumental in helping employees thrive in their new destination.

Ethical Behavior

At no time is it appropriate to solicit services to your transferee that you yourself have any benefit in receiving in either form of gifting, remuneration, financial compensation. Recommendations for specifics companies in relocation, immigration, destination services, household goods shipping, rental services or any other service provider relative to relocating permissible.

You are to offer best practices and utilities from your experiences that can best support the transferee, it is discouraged to offer opinions, suggestions or comments that may be conceived as bias in nature, this includes any recommendations or comments based on race, gender, sexuality, religion or therefore considered steering when discussing local communities that is discriminatory.

**Role Responsibilities**:

- Build a strong rapport with relocating employees, providing personalized support to address emotional and cultural concerns during their transition.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to understand employees' needs and aspirations, setting clear goals for their relocation journey.
- Utilize life coaching techniques to develop cognitive strategies and skills, helping employees overcome obstacles and embrace new opportunities.
- Guide individuals to anticipate and prepare for potential blind spots in the relocation process, ensuring a smoother experience.
- Collaborate with BetterGo Account Managers to align our services with the unique needs and expectations of each client.
- Facilitate webinars and group sessions to foster a supportive community among relocating employees, encouraging knowledge sharing and networking.
- Help employees visualize the entire relocation timeline, empowering them to make informed decisions and feel more in control of their journey.
- Offer guidance on cross-cultural communication, adapting to different work environments, and developing a strong support network in the new location.
- Continuously improve our support programs and resources to meet the evolving needs of relocating individuals.
- Encourage employees to embrace new challenges, fostering a growth mindset that empowers them to excel in their new environment.

**Communication Guidelines**:

- As a Mobility Mentor, refrain from offering unsolicited references or direct tactical support related to real estate, visa and immigration, shipping, or other relocation services. Our dedicated agents handle these aspects.
- Maintain open communication with the BetterGo account manager ensuring our services align with company relocation policies.
- Acting as an advocate for relocating employees, ensuring their emotional well-being and cultural integration are at the forefront of our support.
- WARNING this is not a relocation consultant role or a traditional destination services model, you’re not expected to be the transferee’s concierge handling tactical matters and in many cases the transferee’s employers have hired a company already to handle these aspects.

**Qualifications**:

- Higher Education Degree preferably in education, consulting, management, or similar fields that require a great deal of empathy, planning, leadership, and teamwork.
- Developed professional competencies in counselling, life/career coaching.
- Have personally relocated to a new location (great than 50KM) preferably to a new country.
- Survived Cultural shock.
- Has lived in the destination location for more than 3 years consecutively.
- Expert user in Microsoft suite products, Adobe PDFs and familiar with CRM programs.
- Developed professional competencies in counselling, life/career coaching.
