**About Role**: The role of the **piano technician and tuner** executes tuning, regulation, voicing, repairs, action refurbishing, preventative maintenance, and other duties to maintain the fleet of MEI’s piano inventory at an optimal level that supports and continues the MEI reputation and level of service. This includes primarily the management, preparation and set-up of company’s acoustic piano inventory, harpsichords, cimbaloms, as well as digital pianos and keyboards, at the warehouse, on a jobsite and various events. This includes provision of tuning services of company in
- house pianos, or clients own in-house pianos where services are contracted. Events being the nature of our industry, this role is expected to work out of standard office hours and on weekends.
**Your Tasks**:
- Familiarizing and learning company inventory specifications and functionality primarily pianos, but not limited to pianos.
- Provision of specialized piano repair services, including but not limited to tuning, voicing, regulation, repairs, piano action refurbishing and preventative maintenance,
- Provides recommendations for the optimal maintenance, long-term care, and oversight of the departmental piano inventory, including the development of schedules for tunings, voicing, and regular scheduled maintenance.
- Provides basic harpsichord tuning and repair, including tuning, plectra replacement, and restringing.
- Maintain records and provides expertise regarding the effects of humidity and temperature changes on the piano fleet.
- Provides technical repairs and service to digital pianos and keyboards.
- Assisting with standard drum kit and backline set-ups and preparations where the requirement arises
- Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
- Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses as directed by the line manager.
- Prepping, testing and scanning kit as per pull sheets provided
- Loading and unloading, pushing boxes and assembling and dismantling instruments and equipment while onsite
- Provide technical support for live performances offering assistance to the pianists, keyboardists and keyboards techs
- Liaising with client Project Managers and Stage Managers when on site
**Essential Skills**:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience maintaining pianos at optimal level (detailed performance tunings, action regulation and refurbishing, voicing, repairs, and preventative maintenance of grand and upright pianos) is required.
- Experience with harpsichord tuning and repair
- Prior knowledge of musical instruments.
- Advanced piano playing skills.
- In-depth knowledge of piano makes and models.
- Knowledge of piano mechanisms.
- A good ear for sound quality and pitch.
- Prior hands-on experience working with bands and artists, on stage (at venues, theatres, concert halls, community clubs) or in studios (rehearsal, recording studios)
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with colleagues.
- A keen eye for aesthetics and details.
- Ability to work methodically and meet deadlines.
- Time-management. Basic Sales Skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Fine motor skills. Willing to travel when necessary

**Education**:
- Diploma| Certification preferably in music. Is a musician
- Certification from a piano technician program recognized by the Piano Technician's Guild.
- Experience with music technology, as a sound tech or programmer is helpful
- Fundamental understanding and experience in Musical instrument repairs and maintenance
- UAE driver’s license is a plus
