Job Purpose: Job Purpose: The role is reponsible of monitoring and ensuring that the Eco-tourissm ventures are permitted int the DDCR and follow the regulations of the DDCR while adhering to good conversations practices. Job Accountabilities: GENERIC - Supervise and assist in the implementation of all environmental educational and awareness programs in the DDCR Visitor Centre. - Regularly monitor the conservation programmes and ecological work within Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve (DCCR) (225km2) ensuring the restoration and well being of the flora, and fauna which includes wildlife, domestic animals, general maintenance and upkeep of related facilities SPECIFIC - Monitor the activites of the approved tour operators in the DDCR including regular inspections of their safari routes and campsite while ensuring compliance to the DDCR Regulations. Implement warnings and fines for non-compliance will be necessary. - Responsible of monitoring and supervising any company or contractor implementing projects within the DDCR while ensuring compliance with DDCR regulations and the approved parameters of their project. This may include supervision of government and semi-government departments. - Implement and supervise programs of natural resource assessment and re-assessment (monitoring). This must include vegetation, animal populations and water resources assessments to establish carrying capacities and viable population numbers. - Assist our research partner students and volunteers in the implementation of their approved fieldwork within the DDCR. - Support the Coservation Officers in all aspects related to animal health and ensuring that they are kept in prime condition. Where necessary, administer permitted medical treatment and/or transport injured/sick animals to the relevant Veterinary Clinic. Assist in any wildlife capture and treatment for medical, emergency or managerial purposes. - Support the conservation officer in implementing environmental awareness and education activities at the DDCR Visitor Centre, supporting the enhancement of environmental knowledge and visibility of the DDCR programme?s for visitors. - Supervise groups and coordinate events such as conservation campaigns for diverse targeted groups according to the approved programme document and work plan. - Assist the Conservation Officers to liaise, collaborate and maintain active events with DDCR's partners, including local government and international authorities while aligning programme activities with ongoing initiatives, national priorities and international conservation initiatives (e.g. world wildlife day).
Qualifications & Experience: Facilities/Maintenance.Other : 3+ Years 10 Years schooling or equivalent : Minimum A level with 4 years experience or O level with 6 years of experience. Diploma or Degree in Ecology, Biological Sciences, with experience in the conservation field or Game lodges(preferred) Experience in Ecology, Biological Sciences, with experience in the conservation field or Game lodges. UAE driver licence offroad experience. Knowledge/skills: - Ecological and environmental conditions of the desert. Environmental assessment with regards to ecological zones, vegetation and sustainability. Management of wildlife and domestic animals in their natural environment, including Animal feed and their nutritional value with regard to specific species. Safety and security practises related to wildlife, their transportation and re-location. Other languages besides English: If applicable, note if these are only in a specific department
