This is a non-class based post
- to lead and manage all aspects of our year 1 and 2 classes working alongside the other assistant heads.

- To be a credible leader with a range of teaching and leadership experience
- To be able to lead learning so that lessons are engaging and relevant, enabling every child to make as much progress as possible
- To be able to develop positive working relationships with all members of the school community
- To be able to use initiative, be flexible, fun, proactive and positive

Core purposes:

- To upskill teachers in years 1 and 2 to be the most effective teachers they can be
- To be accountable for ensuring that all children in years 1 and 2 are inspired, motivated and equipped to make as much progress with their learning as possible through ‘amazing learning’
- To work collaboratively with colleagues and families
- To ensure key actions from recent inspection reports are implemented and having a positive impact across the classes
- To have a positive impact on the work of the school
- To promote our school to the local community to increase pupil numbers and reach our pupil numbers target
- To work closely with the other assistant head teachers in EYFS and primary to ensure smooth transition and progression

Key duties include:

- Ensuring teaching and learning in classes in year 1 and 2 are of the highest standard and personalised to specifically meet individual needs and the phase meets the school’s challenging targets for progress and attainment
- Ensuring that school assessment system are correctly implemented and have a notable impact on pupil outcomes
- Leading and facilitating CPD for all members of the school community
- Ensuring all aspects of the day to day running of the school are smooth
- Ensuring the school maintains a positive and respectful ethos
- Ensuring the curriculum is inclusive and learner led, taking into account the cultural heritage of the school community and the local region
- Communicating with families about learning and other issues related to school
- Ensuring children are safe and well cared for at all times
- Ensuring effective communication
- Liaising with colleagues on school related issues
- Actively participating in the professional development process of self and others
- Complying with our agreed policies and Aquila Ways
- Actively engaging with our school community e.g. through newsletters, informal dialogue, reporting, supporting school functions and contributing to community and marketing activities

In addition, all staff are required to carry out any tasks required by the school or the regional office to facilitate the smooth day to day running of the school/ISP.

To be line managed by the Head of Primary

Hours of work
- 7.25am-4.15pm Monday to Thursday and 7.25am to 12pm on Fridays plus occasional evening, weekend and Friday afternoon work

Holidays
- as per the school KHDA approved calendar plus five days during the school holidays.

**Desirable**

UK Qualified teacher status

At least 5 years’ experience post qualification

Previous school leadership responsibility

Experience of teaching the English national

curriculum in the UK

Ability to use initiative, be flexible, fun, resilient proactive and positive

Ability to support teachers to plan lessons which enable children to be independent, active learners and make as much progress as possible

Ability to analyse a range of attainment and wellbeing data to maximise pupil outcomes

Willingness to work above and beyond to contribute to the development of a learning community

Ability to form and maintain professional working relationships with all members of the school community

Understanding and experience of best practice in

EYFS- to ensure smooth transition

Experience working in a range of key stages

Experience working in an international school

Evidence of continuing professional development beyond that provided in school
