Role Context

The Consultant OB-GYN will deliver complete medical and surgical care for women across reproductive, maternity, and later-life health needs. The position combines outpatient consultation, inpatient management, pregnancy monitoring, delivery care, gynecological diagnosis, preventive screening, and operative treatment. The consultant will also manage complex obstetric and gynecological cases requiring coordinated input from neonatology, anesthesiology, radiology, fertility services, nursing teams, and other specialists. A strong focus on patient communication, clinical safety, and individualized treatment will support positive maternal and gynecological outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide outpatient and inpatient consultations for a broad range of obstetric and gynecological conditions.
  • Manage routine and high-risk pregnancies from antenatal assessment through labor, delivery, and postnatal follow-up.
  • Conduct maternal and fetal assessments and identify pregnancy complications requiring specialist intervention.
  • Perform normal deliveries and cesarean sections according to clinical indication.
  • Diagnose and treat menstrual disorders, polycystic ovary syndrome, fibroids, endometriosis, infertility-related conditions, and menopausal concerns.
  • Perform gynecological surgical procedures and minimally invasive interventions where clinically appropriate.
  • Use laparoscopic techniques for selected gynecological conditions within the consultant 's scope of practice.
  • Provide preventive women 's health services including screening, reproductive health assessment, and routine gynecological evaluation.
  • Develop individualized care plans based on diagnosis, reproductive goals, clinical risk, and patient preferences.
  • Counsel patients regarding pregnancy, contraception, fertility, family planning, menopause, and preventive healthcare.
  • Coordinate complex cases with neonatologists, anesthesiologists, radiologists, fertility specialists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Review diagnostic imaging, laboratory findings, pathology results, and other investigations relevant to obstetric and gynecological care.
  • Maintain detailed clinical records covering consultations, procedures, deliveries, treatment plans, and follow-up.
  • Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, departmental meetings, and continuing medical education.
  • Support patient safety, infection prevention, and evidence-based standards across women 's healthcare services.

Ideal Profile

  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
  • Board Certification or Fellowship in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of post-board consultant experience in a reputable hospital.
  • Strong expertise in obstetrics, gynecology, reproductive health, and women 's healthcare.
  • Proven experience managing normal and high-risk pregnancies.
  • Strong surgical competence in cesarean sections and gynecological procedures.
  • Experience with minimally invasive gynecological surgery and laparoscopy is highly desirable.
  • Confidence managing PCOS, fibroids, endometriosis, infertility, menstrual disorders, and menopausal conditions.
  • Previous exposure to tertiary-level obstetric care is advantageous.
