Detailed Job Description

As a Data Engineer and Business Analyst supporting investment funds and sovereign wealth funds (SWF) in Dubai via IT People Gulf, you will take full operational, tactical, and technical ownership of data platform engineering, process design, RACI mapping, and IT stakeholder management. Your day-to-day responsibilities include designing data platforms, developing scalable analytical solutions using Palantir Foundry, Databricks, Azure Foundry, Spark, and Hive, and working directly with senior business stakeholders and cross-functional technical teams. You will analyze business workflows, design process improvements, build AI and generative-AI prototypes, and ensure rigorous data governance, metadata management, data lineage, master data management, data quality, information security, privacy, and responsible AI compliance. Furthermore, you will evaluate automation tools and translate complex investment fund requirements into robust data architectures.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain highly scalable, secure data platforms and analytical solutions using Databricks, Azure Foundry, Spark, Hive, and Palantir Foundry.
• Partner directly with senior business stakeholders across investment funds and sovereign wealth funds (SWF) to gather requirements and manage IT stakeholder relations.
• Design business processes, establish RACI frameworks, and recommend strategic enhancements to drive operational efficiency.
• Write clean, efficient code in Python, SQL, PL/SQL, Spark, and related data processing languages.
• Build and evaluate analytics, automation, machine-learning, and generative-AI prototypes and production-grade products.
• Implement robust data governance frameworks, metadata tracking, data lineage, master data management, and data quality assurance.
• Ensure strict adherence to information security, data privacy, and responsible AI principles across all solutions.
• Translate complex financial and investment workflows into technical data models and data product roadmaps.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, AI, Mathematics, Statistics, or another relevant quantitative discipline.
• Minimum of 6 to 8 years of relevant professional experience across strategy consulting, data product development, applied AI, technology consulting, or data-enabled transformation.
• Proven practical experience working directly with senior business stakeholders and cross-functional technical teams.
• Deep technical proficiency in data platforms including Databricks, Azure Foundry, Spark, Hive, and Palantir Foundry.
• Strong expertise in data modeling, design patterns, and building highly scalable, secured analytical solutions.
• Advanced programming proficiency in Python, SQL, PL/SQL, Spark, and related data languages.
• Demonstrated business analyst capabilities including process design, RACI framework creation, and efficiency optimization.
• Mandatory UAE residency and availability for on-site operations in Dubai (UAE-based candidates only).

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Specialized domain knowledge of how investment funds and sovereign wealth funds (SWF) operate.
• Advanced certifications in Palantir Foundry, Databricks, or cloud data architecture (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Experience in deploying generative-AI and applied machine learning models in financial services.
• Prior working experience in top-tier technology consulting firms or financial institutions across the Middle East.
