Position Overview

AECOM is seeking a UAE National with a family book for an urban and transportation planning position within its Transportation business line in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The role focuses on urban planning, transportation planning, land use regulation, development application reviews, and long-term community development strategies. The successful candidate will evaluate planning proposals, interpret applicable government regulations, conduct research, and recommend solutions that support effective land use and infrastructure development. Working with government agencies, developers, consultants, community representatives, and other stakeholders, the planner will contribute to comprehensive planning documents, transportation plans, neighbourhood development initiatives, and public improvement programmes.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the development, review, and maintenance of comprehensive planning documents.
• Contribute to updates of transportation plans and land development regulations.

Planning Regulations and Compliance

• Interpret and apply relevant government codes, ordinances, and planning regulations.
• Review development proposals for compliance with applicable land use requirements.
• Assess planning submissions against relevant zoning regulations and government policies.
• Identify regulatory deficiencies or violations requiring corrective action.
• Initiate or recommend appropriate actions to address identified compliance concerns.
• Support consistent application of planning requirements during development reviews.

Development Application Review

• Review development applications, including subdivision plats, permits, and site plans.
• Evaluate variance requests and proposed zoning changes.
• Assess development proposals against applicable planning policies and regulations.
