Assistant Operations Manager - Fleet Management (Transportation Industry - Trucks and Trailers) / Logistics

Transafe Logistics LLC, part of Mazrui International - Trading Division, specializes in the transportation of Oxygen, Nitrogen, Argon, Carbon Dioxide, Helium, and Hydrogen gases. We've spent more than a decade transporting hazardous goods around the region and became reliable partners to Oil & Gas industry, Industrial Gas Sector, and Petrochemical Industry. We operate across Jordan, Iraq, and GCC countries. With headquarters in Dubai, our operation hubs are also based in Abu Dhabi, Qatar, and Kuwait. Our commitment to safety and quality is reinforced by a Fleet Management System which is used to coach drivers and implement strong safety-oriented behavior. The system is used to communicate the current locations of cargo through GPS tracking and geo-fencing.

Transafe Logistics is hiring an Assistant Operations Manager to lead a team of Dispatchers and Supervisors for the efficient scheduling of deliveries of dangerous goods. The person will also deal with drivers as and when required to ensure smooth operations, customer plans execution, and delivery.

The ideal candidate must have experience in managing a fleet of trucks and trailers transporting dangerous goods within UAE and cross-border.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing the team for Transportation Supervisor & Operations Executive
  • Developing efficient driver schedules to maximize profits.
  • Manage cross-border operations along with the team to ensure full utilization of fleet and rotation.
  • Managing drivers to adhere to strict schedules.
  • Finding ways to cut costs and maximize profits from maintenance activities and efficient fuel consumption.
  • Scheduling regular vehicle maintenance to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Ensuring strict servicing and maintenance times to minimize downtime and maintain schedules.
  • Ensure all POs and invoices are completed on time and shared with customers/suppliers, while keeping data updated in Oracle.
  • Upon completion of maintenance work, do GRN, send the invoice for booking, and inform the operations team to close the job.
  • Payment follow-up with customers.
  • Prepare outstanding statements and send to customers.
  • Follow up with suppliers for invoices for work done.
  • Monitoring driver behavior and ensuring a high level of customer service.
  • Take responsibility for efficient scheduling of deliveries, proper routing of trucks, and handling telephone orders related to delivery of products.
  • Update and monitor driver's location.
  • Send daily, weekly & monthly reports, ensuring accuracy of monthly closing reports.
  • Lead the driver hiring process to select the best drivers.
  • Responsible for all assets of the UAE branch and their allocation based on customers' needs.
  • Full control of tire management for the entire fleet.
  • Guide drivers for offloading to different destinations and assist with the necessary documents.
  • Registration process for trucks/trailers and follow-up with government authorities.
  • Set up and maintain all driver files.
  • Follow company policies and procedures regarding lease extensions.
  • Other duties as assigned by the business unit manager.
  • QHSE Management & Support.
  • Ensure achievement of safety objectives.
  • Participate in mock drills and training related to RTS as applicable.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and implement corrective actions as required.
  • Organize and maintain computerized records for the FMS.
  • Carry out system administration tasks as required for Oracle and the FMS to manage the fleet.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Logistics/Supply Chain or Accounting.
  • 5+ years in a logistics role in the transportation industry.
  • Knowledge of transportation of dangerous gases across land.
  • Analytical mindset and good problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
