Job Description

Our Client is seeking a highly skilled Lead Airworthiness Engineer to join its Office of Airworthiness within its Part/CAR21J Design Organisation (DO). This role is critical in supporting the Head of Airworthiness by ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal procedures as outlined in the Design Organisation Handbook (DOH), Design Organisation Procedures (DOP), and Technical Procedures Manual (TPM).

The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining regulatory compliance, airworthiness standards, and quality assurance for all design-related activities. This position requires a deep understanding of EASA Part 21 and/or GCAA CAR 21 regulations, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a high-pressure environment.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Regulatory Compliance & Documentation
  • Monitor new regulations, guidance materials, and airworthiness directives issued by relevant authorities (e.g., EASA, GCAA, FAA).
  • Ensure that DOH, DOP, and TPM are regularly updated to reflect regulatory changes.
  • Verify that all design activities are performed within the terms of approval outlined in the Design Organisation Approval Certificate.
  • Oversee the classification of changes and repairs designed by the organisation to ensure regulatory correctness.
  • Review and approve compliance documents to confirm completeness and adherence to applicable regulations.
  • Submit major change data (e.g., AFM, MEL, OSD) to the appropriate regulatory agencies for Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) approval.
Quality Control & Audits
  • Maintain design data archives and staff records in compliance with regulations.
  • Conduct independent checks and verifications to confirm compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits, investigate any findings, and implement corrective actions to ensure regulatory and quality compliance.
  • Assist in the monitoring and auditing of design organisation contractors and subcontractors.
Training & Development
  • Develop and deliver specialized training programs for Design Organisation (DO) staff to ensure continuous professional development.
  • Support investigations related to accidents, incidents, in-service occurrences, and operational complaints.
  • Ensure that original design data is securely stored and protected from unauthorized alterations, damage, or loss.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical, Mechanical, or Electrical/Electronics Engineering.

A Masters degree in a related field is preferred.

Experience

Minimum of 10 years of experience in the aerospace industry.

At least 5 years in a leadership role as a post-holder or Certification Verification Engineer within an EASA/GCAA-approved Design or Production Organisation. (Equivalent FAA or NAA experience will be considered.)

Technical Expertise

Strong working knowledge of EASA Part 21, GCAA CAR 21, JAR/CS/FAR25 airworthiness requirements.

Understanding of the relationship between Part 21, Part 145, and Part M regulations.

Ability to remain uncompromised by time or project pressures while ensuring airworthiness and certification compliance.
