Our Multi National Design & Engineering Consultancy client has a new requirement for a well experienced Marine Ecologist and Environmental Specialist with strong understanding of Marine Ecology and Coastal Habitat (Mangroves etc) to join their team in Dubai to work on new projects in the Emirate. Successful candidates will have extensive experience as a Marine Ecologist and Environmental Specialist working on UAE and regional GCC projects ideally with a recognized consultancy company background. This role is available for immediate joining and is a direct hire, permanent opportunity employed directly by our client.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead on-site daily and weekly inspections including, waste management, air quality, dust observations, as per CEMP inspection checklist.
  2. Participate in daily toolbox talks, and lead site specific environmental awareness training for contractors on site.
  3. Participate in internal environmental audits on a monthly basis.
  4. Conduct environmental monitoring as per CEMP requirements, may include water quality, noise, marine mammal and reptile, marine ecology monitoring.
  5. Conduct environmental performance reporting to project Company and environmental regulator.
  6. Support ecologists (terrestrial and/or marine) conducting field surveys, including:
    1. Benthic habitat identification;
    2. MMRO;
    3. Water quality sampling;
    4. Sediment quality sampling;
    5. Habitat health assessment (e.g. mangroves, seagrass and coral);
    6. Turtle nesting and hatching surveys;
    7. Drop down video transects.
Marine Ecologist & Environmental Specialist Experience:
  1. Bachelor of Science (BSc) (in relevant marine related discipline e.g. marine biology, oceanography, fisheries management, ecology, zoology);
  2. More than 8 years experience (work or research experience) in field studies;
  3. Experience with on site assurance work (inspections, audit etc.);
  4. Experience with environmental monitoring of a marine nature;
  5. Excellent report writing skills for preparation of technical reports;
  6. Understanding of Dubai / UAE Environmental Regulations;
  7. Ability to interface with clients;
