Job Title: Composites Technician Lead

The Composites Technician Lead is responsible for overseeing all aspects of composite material fabrication, testing, and maintenance within a department or team. This role involves leading and mentoring a group of Composite Technicians, Senior Composite Technicians, and Composite Technician Supervisors, ensuring the quality and efficiency of their work, and collaborating with engineers and project managers to achieve project goals. The Senior Technician Lead must possess advanced knowledge of composite materials and processes, along with strong leadership and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Team Leadership: Lead a team of Composite Technicians, Senior Composite Technicians, and Composite Technician Supervisors engaged in composite fabrication, testing, and repair, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback as needed.
2. Project Coordination: Collaborate with project managers and engineers to plan and execute composite manufacturing projects, including scheduling, resource allocation, and budget management.
3. Technical Oversight: Provide technical expertise and guidance to technicians, assisting with complex tasks, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and specifications.
4. Quality Assurance: Implement quality control measures to ensure that composite components meet required specifications and standards, conducting inspections, tests, and audits as necessary.
5. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and quality enhancement within the composite manufacturing process, collaborating with stakeholders to implement improvements.
6. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including inspection reports, test results, and project documentation, and prepare regular progress reports for management.
7. Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and procedures to minimize risks and ensure a safe working environment for technicians, conducting safety training and inspections as necessary.
8. Continuous Learning: Stay current with developments in composite materials, manufacturing techniques, and industry best practices, and share knowledge with team members through training and professional development activities.

Education & Experience:

1. High school diploma or equivalent, with additional vocational training or certification in composite materials technology required.
2. More than 20 years of experience in composite material fabrication, testing, and repair, with a strong understanding of composite manufacturing processes and techniques.
3. Proven leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team of technicians, prioritize tasks, and delegate responsibilities effectively.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with team members, clients, and stakeholders at all levels.
5. Strong problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to analyze complex issues, develop solutions, and implement improvements (8D, 5 why's and Ishikawa diagram) are desirable.
6. Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations governing composite materials and manufacturing processes.
7. Certification in SAP, LEAN, 3P, SQCDP, and 5S are desirable.
8. Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement in all aspects of composite manufacturing operations.
