Engineering Manager

My client, a fast-growing trading company, is looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead backend engineering teams building high-performance, low-latency trading systems.

The Role:

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of backend engineers working on mission-critical trading platforms.
• Own technical delivery, architecture decisions, and engineering standards.
• Partner closely with Product, Quant, and Trading teams to deliver scalable and reliable systems.
• Balance hands-on technical leadership with people management and execution.
• Drive best practices around system design, performance, security, and resilience.

Key Requirements:

• Proven experience as an Engineering Manager or Technical Lead in a high-scale environment.
• Strong background in Scala and Java, ideally within trading, fintech, or low-latency systems.
• Experience designing and operating distributed, event-driven systems.
• Solid understanding of concurrency, performance optimisation, and fault-tolerant architectures.
• Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-ownership environments.

Nice to Have:

• Experience in trading platforms, market data, or financial systems.
• Exposure to cloud infrastructure and modern DevOps practices.
• Background in mentoring senior engineers and building high-performing teams.
