We are looking for a Principal Public Health Engineer to join our design team in Dubai, UAE.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Fully qualified professional and conversant with relevant market knowledge.
  2. Minimum BEng or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering from a recognised institute with 15-20 years of industry experience post qualification.
  3. Chartered Engineer or working towards Membership of IPA, CIBSE, NFPA etc.
  4. Significant experience working in a design consultancy, preferably in the Middle East.
  5. Experience in delivering projects in conjunction with remote design centres.
  6. Proven experience working in a design consultancy as a designer and technical authority. Applied broad professional knowledge and experienced judgement.
  7. Exceptional skills and knowledge of working in a design consultancy with good knowledge of Local and International Codes and Regulations.
  8. A high level of technical skill in Public Health Services and Fire Protection Systems design is essential.
  9. Ability to develop technical specifications in Master format CSI and NES.
  10. Good level of computer literacy in Windows, HASS, HEVACOMP, Navis work and Microsoft packages - an understanding of AutoCAD/Revit, and the BIM process is beneficial.
  11. Wider knowledge of integrated design and collaboration with other disciplines is highly desirable.
  12. Capable of working under pressure and on several projects simultaneously.
  13. Aware of the commercial process required with the administration of the Change Control system.
  14. Able to understand and express technical concepts in written and verbal language with a high standard of written and verbal communication skills.
  15. Able to innovate new solutions as well as apply existing solutions to problems.
  16. Able to make decisions, act on own initiative and operate in a proactive way.
  17. Good report writing skills and experience in making presentations to and attending meetings with clients is essential.
  18. Forming and managing relationships with Clients, networking and promoting the company.
  19. Strong team management skills.
  20. Good leadership qualities to work in harmony with the team.

Responsibilities:

  1. To undertake Public Health Services, GAS and Fire Protection systems design on international projects independently.
  2. Preparing technical markups/sketches for modelling by the BIM team.
  3. Representing Atkins at meetings with Clients and Contractors.
  4. Liaise with Local Statutory Authorities.
  5. Technical Report writing.
  6. Preparation of design calculations using industry-standard software.
  7. Preparation of technical specifications in Master format CSI and NES.
  8. Maintaining records and archives to company standards.
  9. Manage own workload and workload of others.
  10. Preparing and managing project budgets.
  11. Engage in Multi-discipline coordination and workshops.
  12. Ensure Quality Assurance/Quality control processes have been incorporated into the design.
  13. Review and develop established standard details and specifications with current market trends.
  14. Manage production of standard PHE+Fire+Gas details/specifications.
  15. Resource management across the PHE+Fire+Gas package.
  16. Strategic technical decision making.
  17. Technical responsibility for quality associated with PHE+Fire+Gas design deliverables.
