Safety Specialist, AE WHS AMZL

In this role, you'll put the vital steps in place to make sure everyone at your location works in a safe and healthy environment. This is a hands-on opportunity to make a difference to people every day. By proactively keeping them safe, you'll also empower them to feel confident in their roles and motivated to do their best work.
Key job responsibilities
- Monitor site performance against set KPIs and create plans to improve processes
- Set up workplace health and safety programmes and arrange training sessions
- Analyse safety metrics and incident trends to help colleagues plan appropriate resources for areas with the highest risk
- Carry out audits to make sure your site is compliant with relevant health and safety laws and implement solutions where you identify risks
You'll be based on location at one of our sites, which will be one of our delivery stations. Being on site means that you can keep a close eye on the processes. As well as helping us stay on top of health and safety compliance, you'll spot potential issues and identify opportunities for improvement. That means working closely with people across the business to get to know the risks they experience and gathering data to identify smarter and safer ways that we can work. You'll also set up training and other programmes to help everyone follow new safety processes and reach new standards.
About The Team
Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) plays a crucial role in keeping our people mentally and physically well at work. Our team works with managers, associates and local governments across our sites, making sure we're complying with Amazon's policies and legal regulations, and that our workplaces are safe.
There is a range of opportunities within the team, from Health and Safety Technicians to Programme Managers. No matter what your role is, you'll play a part in developing, implementing and upholding our high safety and wellbeing standards. You could work on a variety of projects alongside colleagues from across the business, ranging from equipment and process inspections to assessing processes, building and equipment design.
Basic Qualifications
- 2+ years of workplace health & safety (WHS) related field experience
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent level
- A NEBOSH or equivalent qualification
- Advanced proficiency in verbal and written English
- Experience in emergency response
- Experience of Lean, 5S, or Kaizen methodologies
- Measure sites' performance against published requirements in WHS procedures. For all deficiencies, identify a plan for the site to implement and fix all identified deficiencies.
- Analyze WHS metrics and review incident weekly and monthly incident trends to discover trends to rationalize the allocation of appropriate resources to areas where the WHS risk is highest.
- Perform frequent site WHS audits to identify all non-compliance equipment and/or processes at the site. Implement solutions to eliminate exposure to these risks and prevent injury.
- Ensure contractor management safety processes are implemented.
