Senior Manager

The Senior Manager - Legal is an individual contributor role reporting to the Group General Counsel. This position primarily focuses on Procurement and Supply Chain Management (SCM) matters, including the drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and finalizing various contracts for Procurement and Supply Chain Management (SCM). The Senior Manager - Legal will identify and mitigate key risks related to the company's business areas, collaborate with internal stakeholders, and ensure efficient communication to ensure clear contract understanding. This role requires exceptional negotiation skills, a strategic mindset, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Focus on Procurement and Supply Chain Management matters:
   1. Devote attention and expertise to legal matters related to Procurement and Supply Chain Management within the organization.
   2. Stay informed about industry trends, legal developments, and best practices specifically related to procurement and supply chain activities.
2. Review, Draft, and Negotiate Contracts:
   1. Conduct thorough reviews of various contracts, including purchase agreements, MRO contracts, supplier agreements, service contracts, subcontracting agreements, joint ventures, and licensing agreements.
   2. Utilize strong contract drafting skills to prepare clear, comprehensive, and legally sound contractual documents.
   3. Engage in negotiations with external parties to ensure favorable terms and conditions for the organization.
3. Support Commercial Contract Matters:
   1. Provide support for overspill of commercial contract matters, demonstrating versatility in handling a range of legal issues beyond procurement and supply chain.
   2. Collaborate with the other members of the Legal team as needed to address broader commercial legal concerns.
4. Solely Responsible for Tenders:
   1. Take sole responsibility for handling contracts associated with the Procurement and Supply Chain Management department's seven tenders PW.
   2. Ensure compliance with legal requirements and internal policies in all tender-related contracts.
5. Legal Advisory Role:
   1. Act as a key legal advisor to internal stakeholders, providing guidance on legal implications, risks, and strategies related to procurement and supply chain activities.
   2. Work closely with management teams to align legal advice with business objectives and contribute to the organization's growth with a focus on managed risk and regulatory compliance.
6. Collaboration and Coordination:
   1. Collaborate with the Group General Counsel, VP Contracts, and other legal team members to ensure a cohesive and aligned legal strategy.
   2. Coordinate efforts with cross-functional teams, including procurement, supply chain, and other relevant departments, to achieve seamless execution of legal activities.
7. Documentation and Record Keeping:
   1. Maintain accurate and organized documentation of all contracts, legal opinions, and other relevant legal records.
   2. Ensure that legal records are easily accessible and comply with document retention policies.
8. Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements within the legal function, particularly in relation to procurement and supply chain legal processes.
9. Stay abreast of changes in laws and regulations impacting the organization's legal landscape.

These responsibilities and accountabilities collectively contribute to the Senior Manager - Legal's role in ensuring legal compliance, mitigating risks, and facilitating the organization's smooth operation in the areas of procurement and supply chain management.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIESMinimum Qualifications:

1. Law degree and with common law qualification.
2. Around 3-5 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in legal practice is required. This includes:
   1. Adequate experience in an in-house legal position with a focus on procurement matters is preferred. Proven ability to handle legal aspects related to procurement, supply chain, logistics, and tenders within a corporate setting.
   2. Adequate experience in logistics, including knowledge of shipment processes, and familiarity with export control regulations. Demonstrated expertise in managing tender processes, preferably in a high-volume context.
   3. Adequate experience in handling commercial contract matters to provide support for overspill of such issues. Ability to apply legal expertise to a broad range of commercial transactions.
   4. Excellent drafting skills with a proven track record of preparing clear, comprehensive, and legally sound contractual documents.
   5. Technical experience in legal aspects related to procurement, logistics, and tender processes.
   6. Demonstrated ability to respond promptly to legal matters, possess extensive knowledge in relevant areas, and adapt quickly to changing circumstances.
3. Preference given to candidates with prior on-the-ground experience, demonstrating a deeper understanding of local legal nuances and practices.
