PurposeofRole

TheHead of Inclusion is a senior leadership role responsible fordeveloping and leading inclusive practices ensuring compliance withlocal and international frameworks. They oversee interventionssupport staff in delivering differentiated instructionand safeguard student mental health. As aqualified special educator they lead and support staff in fosteringan inclusive school culture. They collaborate with ISP regionalschools apply expertise in special educational needs anddisabilities and support studentsincluding those for whom English is an Additional Language (EAL).They require initiative empathy and a proactive personable andpositive character to effectively drive inclusion across theschool.

Headof Inclusion KeyResponsibilities

StrategicLeadership &Compliance

Develop and implement the schoolsInclusion Policy ensuring alignment with national and internationalbestpractices.

Work collaboratively with the Head of EYFSand Primary Head of Secondary and the Head of Arabic to ensure aconsistent approach toinclusion.

Maintain compliance with ADEK Inclusionrequirements and ensure the school meets statutory obligationsregarding students of determination andadditional learningneeds.

Oversee and evaluate the effectiveness ofinclusion programs using datadriven insights to improveinterventionstrategies.

Ensure the Inclusion Register andeSIS ALN moduleare up to date tracking SEN EAL andstudents requiring additional behavioural or academic support asper ADEKrequirements.

StudentSupport &Intervention

Ensure the early identification assessmentand monitoring of students with additional learningneeds.

Oversee thedevelopment and implementation ofDocumented Learning Plans (DLPs) IEPs IBPs and ALPs ensuring thatall plans are studentcentred measurable and reviewedregularly.

Guide and implement evidencebasedinterventions tailored to students academic and socialemotionalneeds.

Collaborate with classroom teachers todifferentiate instruction ensuring that students of determinationreceive appropriate accommodations andmodifications.

Collaborationwith EALTeam

Work closely with the Head of EAL andMultilingualism to support students with English as an AdditionalLanguage (EAL) ensuring their inclusion in all aspects of schoollife.

Develop and implement strategies thataddress the unique challenges faced by EAL students promoting theiracademic success and socialintegration.

Provide guidance and support to the EALteam ensuring that interventions are effective and aligned withthe schools inclusionpolicies.

Admissions& EnrollmentSupport

Work with the Admissions Team to assessprospective students with additional learning needs ensuring fairand informedenrollmentdecisions.

Provide recommendations on appropriateaccommodations and support to ensure asmooth transition for newly admittedstudents.

Support the development of inclusiveadmissions policies ensuring compliance with equity andaccessibilitystandards.

AccessArrangements forExaminations

Ensure compliance with theJoint Council for Qualifications (JCQ)guidelines for access arrangements facilitating fair access toassessments for eligiblestudents.

Implement the International Baccalaureate(IB) Diploma Programme (DP) access and inclusion policies ensuringthat students with specific needs receiveappropriate support duringassessments.

Coordinate the assessment anddocumentation processes required to secure access arrangementsmaintaining accurate records and liaising with examination bodiesasnecessary.

LineManagement & StaffDevelopment

Lead and mentor the Inclusion Team SchoolSocial Worker School Counsellor and Head of EAL and Multilingualismensuring all staff are trained supported and equipped to implementinclusive strategies in theirteaching.

Conduct regular performance appraisalsoffering constructive feedback and professional developmentopportunities.

Work closely with teachers heads ofdepartments and leadership teams to embed inclusive teaching andlearningpractices.

Act as the mainpoint of contact for parents regardingtheir childs learning needs fostering strong homeschoolpartnerships.

Coordinate multiagency approaches liaisingwith external specialists (e.g. educational psychologists speechand occupational therapists SEN advisors)for enhanced studentsupport.

MentalHealth &Safeguarding

Ensure students with additional learningneeds receive appropriate mental health and wellbeing supportworking closely with the school counsellor social worker andsafeguardingteam.

Monitor studentwellbeing ensuring that interventions are in place for students atrisk of disengagement exclusion or emotionaldifficulties.

Provide staff training on mental healthawareness ensuring that early identification and interventionstrategies are embedded in dailypractice.

DataAnalysis &Reporting

Use assessment data student progressrecords and teacher feedback to evaluate the effectiveness ofinterventionprograms.

Report regularly to the Principal andGoverning Body providing insights into theprogress of students on the SENregister.

Ensure robust tracking and reportingmechanisms to monitor student outcomes intervention effectivenessand compliance.

StaffDevelopment ECA &Cover

Attends and participates fully in StaffDevelopment staff meetings and briefings asset

Provides cover for absent colleagues asand whennecessary

Contributes to the extracurricularactivity program to enrich the school experience for thestudents asreasonably directed by the SLT and ECACoordinator

Personaland ProfessionalConduct

All staff areexpected to demonstrate consistently high standards of personal andprofessional conduct. Staff must maintain high standards of ethicsand behaviour within and outside schoolby:

SkillsQualifications andExperience

MinimumEducational Qualifications Required for theRole

A Bachelors degree (QFE 7 in SpecialEducation Education Psychology or a relatedfield.

Minimum Years ofExperienceRequired

Minimum two years of experience as anInclusion Teacher or in aninclusionrelated leadership role (e.g. SENCoordinator Head of Inclusion or Special NeedsDirector).

OtherRequirements

Knowledge

Awareness of the British curriculum andassessment methods to support inclusive education and studentwellbeing.

Expertise in inclusive educationstrategies SEN interventions and differentiationtechniques.

Understanding of assessment methods andhow to tailor support for students with additional learningneeds.

Familiarity with JCQ and IBDP accessarrangements ADEKeSIS ALN modulerequirements and local/international inclusionregulations.

Strong understanding of safeguarding childprotection and school mental healthpolicies.

Skills
