Roles and responsibilities

As an Engineering manager, you willberesponsible for managing the technical aspects during mainly theexecution, project completion and handover of utility scale solarPV power plants in addition to supporting during the earlier stagesof project development.

As part of anintegrated project team, to prepare and agree on projectspecifications with contractors, PMC/owner's engineer,clients or other stakeholders, and to define basic design, andcreate or review test procedures for solar power plantcomponent.

You will also manage and coordinatethe PMC in the design review of detailed engineering and ensure acommon Masdar Clean Energy approach in requirements related toengineering across projects.

Responsibilitiesnot limited to:

  • Manage alltechnical aspects of the projects within the delivery team, makingsure the proper technical resources are in place and that theproject is constructed and commissioned as per the contractualrequirements in terms of scope, quality andtiming.
  • Coordinate and manage the review andapprovals of engineering deliverables as per the projectrequirement.
  • Coordinate the technical part ofthe interface with other engineers (EPC, OE and Masdar CleanEnergy, i.e. HV, Civils) for agreed requirements and ensure theyare implemented in the project.
  • Support infield engineering supervision regarding PV aspects and managingowner's engineer.
  • Provide technicalrequirements to be included in all RFPs for EPC, O&M,equipment supply agreements and/or plantcomponents.
  • Participate in (EPC, O&Mand/or main equipment) contract negotiation and selection regardingtechnical aspects.
  • Define technicalrequirements for RFP/tender documents for Owners Engineer (OE) andProject Management Consultants (PMC).
  • Take thelead in the evaluation process of PMC/OE by developing technicalevaluation matrix defining the selection criteria of technicalconsultants.
  • Support for Quality Health andSafety Environment (QHSE) activities, policies and objectives ofMasdar and compliance with the laws and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree inEngineering or Renewable Energy or related field. CharteredEngineer status(e.g. IET, EUR Ing, PEng) is anasset.
  • Project Management certification (e.g.PMP, PRINCE2,) is an asset.
  • At least 8 plusyears of experience in the power industry preferably with an EPCcontractor, developer, engineering firm or technical consultant oran equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of solarrenewable power market players andcomponents.
  • Exceptional communication skillsand able to work in a dynamic, fast paced, diverseenvironment.
  • Strong understanding of thecomplexity and challenges of driving/building a project deliveryculture

  • Execution andOversight: Oversee the execution of engineeringprojects, ensuring they are completed according to plan and meetthe technical and financial expectations of theorganization.
  • RiskManagement: Identify potential technical, financial,and operational risks early in the project and develop strategiesto mitigate them.
  • Coordinationwith Other Departments: Collaborate with otherdepartments (e.g., production, marketing, sales, R&D) toensure engineering projects align with organizational goals andcustomerneeds.

TechnicalOversight

  • Designand Development: Oversee the development and designof engineering solutions, ensuring they meet requiredspecifications, quality standards, and clientexpectations.
  • QualityControl: Implement and enforce quality assuranceprocesses to ensure engineering solutions are reliable, safe, andefficient.
  • ProblemSolving: Provide technical guidance andtroubleshooting for complex engineering issues. Lead the team indeveloping innovative solutions to engineeringchallenges.
