Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry with a focus onsynthetic organic chemistry.
  • 15+ years ofexperience in small molecule drug discovery experience in anindustrial biotechnology or pharmaceuticalsetting.
  • Comprehensive medicinal chemistryknowledge from hits to clinical candidateselection.
  • Proven track record of success inadvancing programs from leads to advancedcandidates.
  • Extensive experience with leadcompound optimization in the areas of potency, selectivity,solubility, ADME and PK.
  • Conceptualunderstanding of cell-based and MS-based profilingassays.
  • Able to objectively evaluate theresults to advance compoundoptimization.
  • Experience with all currentmedicinal chemistry instrumentation: HPLC, LC-MS, NMRcrystallography, and purificationsystems.
  • Expert in using common medicinalchemistry software: electronic notebook; structure drawing; dataspreadsheet analysis; data visualization; structure viewing;literature, chemical and databasesearching.
  • Committed to staying current withthe latest scientific breakthroughs in the medicinal chemistryfield through continued reading of the literature and attendance ofscientific conferences.
  • A team player withexperience communicating with a multidisciplinary team, andexperience managing a team of chemists. Accountable for themedicinal chemistry activities and progress of the company. Highlyorganized with excellent analytical, strategy, documentation, timemanagement, and multi-taskingskills.
  • Demonstrated success in the design,medicinal chemical optimization, and formulation/delivery of smallmolecule therapeutics.
  • Demonstrable experiencewith successful IND submissions or equivalent ispreferred.
  • Experience in venture-backedcompanies is strongly preferred.
  • Outstandingscientific leadership, collaboration, and management skills with anintegrated view of business and scientificissues.
  • Excellent verbal and writtencommunication skills.
  • Ability to interact withstaff (at all levels) productively in a fast-pacedenvironment.
  • High degree of energy, attentionto detail, and a passion for delivering important new therapies topatients with devastating diseases.

Expected Salary Range:$260,000-$290,000 (Compensation and leveling will be commensuratewith experience and expertise and could fall outside of the statedrange)
