Roles and responsibilities
  • Ensure the contractor/scompliance with the standards and specifications of the contractdocuments.
  • Maintain records of the contractorhuman and equipment daily resources.
  • Undertakeall site supervision and inspections when required or instructed bythe Resident Engineer (RE) or the Assistant Resident Engineer(ARE).
  • Liaise and daily follow up with thecontractor. This is to ensure the contractor is managing itsresources, health and safety, and equipment needs on thesite.
  • Be familiar with the project'scontract documents, detailed drawings, specifications, and healthand safety measures together with any associatedupdates.
  • Prepare daily report to the RE or ARE.This includes works orders, materials delivery, and dailyinspections program.
  • Follow up and implementany site instructions made by the RE andARE.
  • Apply and implement all quality controlsand quality procedures of the site.
  • Prepare anysite measurements and surveying checks needed by the RE or ARE forpipes alignments and levels.
  • Co-ordinate andco-operate with client project manager during their siteinspections in the presence of the RE orARE.
  • Monitor contractor QA/QC activities andmaintain relevant records.
  • Assist the ARE andRE in the preparation of any correspondences in compliance with thecontract documents and site requirements.
  • Wheresite problems are found, work with the RE or ARE to resolve thempromptly.
  • Monitor the start-up, commissioningand handover of the site works. Including maintaining records ofthe project milestones.
  • Maintain records ofmaterials tests performed and executedworks.
  • Audit inspections for conformity tocontract documents and contractor submittedplans.

  • Minimum 10 years ofexperience within similar projects
  • Middle Eastexperience preferred
  • Relevant experience in theconstruction supervision

  • RegulatoryKnowledge: Familiarity with local, state, andfederal building codes, zoning laws, and environmental regulations(e.g., ADA, LEED, or other sustainabilitycertifications).
  • Quality Controland Assurance: Assessing whether construction orlandscape work meets predetermined quality standards, identifyingdefects or deviations.
  • GeospatialKnowledge: Understanding geographic informationsystems (GIS) or other tools to assess the location of projects,ensuring the appropriate use of space in landscapingprojects.

2. AnalyticalSkills

  • Problem-Solving:Identifying issues with construction or landscaping that may notmeet specifications and determining the cause of thoseissues.
  • Attention toDetail: Ensuring every element of the architecturalor landscape design is followed precisely, from the smallest detailto large-scale requirements.
  • RiskAssessment: Evaluating potential risks on-site, suchas safety hazards, structural concerns, or environmental impacts,and taking corrective actions.

3.CommunicationSkills

  • ReportWriting: Ability to write clear and conciseinspection reports, documenting any issues found, deviations fromplans, or violations of codes andregulations.
  • InterpersonalCommunication: Effectively communicating withcontractors, architects, landscapers, and project managers aboutissues or discrepancies found duringinspections.
  • ClientInteraction: Communicating directly with clients orstakeholders to update them on project progress or issues, offeringclear explanations of the inspectionfindings.

4. ProjectManagementSkills

  • TimeManagement: Managing time efficiently to handlemultiple inspections, report writing, and coordination taskswithout compromisingquality.
  • Coordination andScheduling: Collaborating with various teams toschedule inspections at appropriate stages of the project, ensuringthat all aspects of construction or landscaping are verified in atimely manner.

5.SafetyAwareness

  • SiteSafety: Recognizing potential safety hazards onconstruction or landscaping sites and ensuring compliance withsafety standards and regulations (e.g., OSHAguidelines).
  • EnvironmentalImpact: Ensuring that the landscape designs orconstruction methods do not negatively impact the environment andcomply with sustainabilitystandards.

  • LandscapeArchitecture Knowledge: Understanding of landscapingprinciples, plant types, hardscape materials, irrigation systems,soil types, and other landscaping elements to verify the design andinstallation.
