Job Summary.

As a Principal Applications Engineer, you will be engaged in Design, Proposals, Manufacturing, Installation, and Operation of our Choke Valves. Additionally, you will provide technical support to our Customers and our Outside Sales Force. You will be providing Engineering reviews, troubleshooting assistance, Product recommendations and Quoting, while engaging our customers with on-site training, installation assistance, failure analysis and field surveys.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works on projects of a specialized, complex nature to accomplish specific organizational goals.
  • Acts as "internal consultant" due to specialization of knowledge.
  • Provides technical expertise to projects, group tasks and initiatives.
  • Acts as an "internal thought leader" due to specialization of knowledge.
  • Typically has a four-year degree or equivalent and 10+ years of experience.
  • Serves as advisor for other personnel on projects related to technical specialization.
  • Assists with individual performance appraisal review as appropriate.
  • Plans and assigns work as required, involving larger and more critical projects or multiple projects.
  • Demonstrates exceptional skill as a nonsupervisory resource and mentor to team members and across business units.
  • May assist with development of functional policies in line with industry guidelines
  • Establish and maintain close working relationships with Sales, Operations, and other functional stakeholders to promote the best interests of the company.
  • Sizing and selection of the Choke valves.
  • Timely preparation of high-quality proposals within limitations dictated by the customer or manager using designated workload management tools and processes.
  • Demonstrate a firm knowledge of Choke Valves fundamentals and clear understanding of all NOV Choke valve types. Also Demonstrate a fundamental understanding of different Choke valve applications.
  • Review all customer inquiry related documents while addressing all relevant technical and commercial requirements to customer and/or sales force.
  • Manage and monitor the proposal throughout the entire bid cycle including updating and maintaining designated Quote registers.
  • Lead all coordination efforts on applicable quotes/orders while ensuring close collaboration and communication with all applicable stakeholders (different NOV departments and/or Suppliers included) to support quotation process and assure on-time delivery of the quotes.
  • Utilize designated tools and established processes and procedures.
  • Reviews contractual documentation and ensures requirements are understood and reflect what has been negotiated. Identifies Stakeholders and analyzes their expectations. Ensures timely booking and acknowledgement of Customer's orders according to NOV's policies and procedures.
  • Identifies and manages risks as well as handles contingency plans during all project phases. Ensures any change to the contract is documented, approved and addressed in the appropriate manner.
  • Organize and Delivery training to stakeholders (customers and sales force).
  • Examine & Inspect failed products, providing written and oral explanations to customer. Failure Analysis Reports.
  • Review and approve commercial terms of contracts.
  • Travel to NOV Manufacturing Plant(s), Vendor location(s), Customer location(s) for expediting & meeting purposes.
  • To lead by example and drive a culture of Safety, Ethics & Compliance


EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/SKILL-SET REQUIRED:

  • At least 10-12 years of experience Control Valve/Choke Valve.
  • Minimum Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical/Instrumentation)
  • Control Valve/Choke Valve sizing & Selection experience.
  • Exposure to handling customers and reps.
  • Understanding and knowledge of API, ASTM, IEC specifications.
  • Experience of handling MENA regional customers/end users.
