Roles and responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and analysis ofgravity hydraulics systems in water treatmentworks.
  • Develop innovative solutions foroptimizing gravity-based water distribution and treatmentprocesses.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinaryteams to integrate hydraulics principles intoprojects.
  • Utilize your technical acumen toprovide effective solutions for complex hydraulicschallenges.
  • Lead project meetings and fostereffective client relationships.
  • Supervise andmentor junior engineers, ensuring delivery standards aremet.
  • Contribute to proposal development andclient engagement.

Requirements:

  • Educational Background: Abachelor's or master's degree in mechanicalengineering.
  • Professional experience: A minimumof 8 years of experience in Mechanical engineering, with a focus ondesigning hydraulic systems including drainage, water supply& firefighting for various applications and a Proven trackrecord of successfully completed hydraulic engineeringprojects.
  • Proficiency in hydraulic modelingsoftware and tools including Revit, Autocad & Elitesoftwares.
  • In-depth knowledge of fluidmechanics, pipe flow, pump selection, and hydraulic systemdesign.
  • Familiarity with stormwater management,water distribution systems, and wastewatersystems.
  • Knowledge of local and internationalcodes and standards related to hydraulic engineering for both Dubaiand Abu Dhabi
  • Experience in water treatmentworks and a deep understanding of gravity hydraulicsprinciples.
  • Effective communication skills anda collaborative work approach.
  • Knowledge ofengineering principles, technical drawings, and planningdata.
  • Chartered or equivalent qualification inrelevant discipline.

1. Technical Expertise in PlumbingSystems

  • PlumbingSystem Design: Expertise in designing and developingplumbing systems for water distribution, drainage, stormwatermanagement, sanitary systems, and gas systems inbuildings.
  • HydraulicCalculations: Knowledge of pressure and flowcalculations for water distribution, sizing pipes, and determiningsystem capacity.
  • Water Supply andDistribution: Proficiency in designing systems forpotable water supply, hot and cold-water distribution, and systemsfor water conservation (e.g., greywater reuse, rainwaterharvesting).
  • Sanitary andDrainage Systems: Designing systems to managewastewater, including sewage, stormwater, and industrial waste, andensuring compliance with codes andregulations.
  • GasSystems: Designing natural gas or LPG distributionsystems for heating, cooking, and otherapplications.
  • Fire ProtectionSystems: Knowledge of plumbing systems involved infire suppression, such as sprinklers, hydrants, andstandpipes.
  • Sustainability andWater Efficiency: Focus on sustainable plumbingpractices, energy-efficient systems, and water conservationtechnologies like low-flow fixtures and rainwaterharvesting.

2. CodeCompliance and RegulatoryKnowledge

  • PlumbingCodes and Standards: Deep knowledge of national andinternational plumbing codes (e.g., IPC, UPC, BS 6700, AS/NZS 3500)and standards such as local regulations, environmental laws, andsafety codes.
  • Health and SafetyRegulations: Understanding the health and safetyregulations associated with plumbing systems, includingcross-connection control, backflow prevention, and compliance withbuilding codes.
  • Permits andInspections: Ensuring that plumbing systems complywith local, state, and federal regulations and that necessarypermits are obtained. Overseeing inspections andapprovals.

3. Designand Drafting SoftwareProficiency

  • AutoCADand Revit: Proficient in creating plumbing layouts,schematics, and 3D models using AutoCAD, Revit, or similar BIM(Building Information Modeling)software.
  • Hydraulic DesignSoftware: Familiar with design tools and softwarefor hydraulic calculations and modeling (e.g., H2Ocalc, PipeFlow,or similar systems).
  • BIMIntegration: Experience with integrating plumbingdesigns into the broader BIM model, collaborating with structural,electrical, and mechanical engineers for seamlessintegration.

4. ProjectManagement andCoordination

  • ProjectPlanning and Scheduling: Strong project managementskills to plan, organize, and oversee the installation of plumbingsystems, ensuring that all deadlines aremet.
  • TeamLeadership: Supervising junior engineers, plumbers,and contractors, providing guidance and support on technical andsafety issues.
  • ResourceAllocation and Budgeting: Managing resources,budgeting, and cost estimation for plumbing system installations,ensuring projects are delivered within financialconstraints.
  • Vendor andSubcontractor Coordination: Managing relationshipswith suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring that the rightmaterials are sourced, and that contractors meet performance andsafety standards.

5.Problem-Solving andTroubleshooting

  • SystemAnalysis: Analyzing plumbing system designs forinefficiencies or issues, identifying problems, and proposinginnovative solutions.
  • On-SiteTroubleshooting: Providing technical support duringinstallation or commissioning, solving unexpected problems relatedto plumbing systems.

6.Sustainability andInnovation

  • SustainableDesign Practices: Knowledge of energy-efficientplumbing systems, including water-saving devices, renewable energyintegration (e.g., solar water heating), and systems for reducingcarbon footprints.
  • InnovativeTechnologies: Keeping up-to-date with newtechnologies in plumbing design, such as smart plumbing systems,greywater recycling, and advanced leak detectionsystems.

7.Communication and ClientInteraction

  • ClientEngagement: Communicating with clients to understandtheir needs, explaining design concepts, and providing technicaladvice on plumbingissues.
  • Documentation andReporting: Preparing clear, concise technicaldocumentation, including plumbing drawings, specifications, andreports for clients, regulatory bodies, andcontractors.
