EssentialResponsibilities

  • Delivers quality treatment programsto patients ranging in age from pediatric to geriatric incompliance with competency checklists. Evaluates the physicalstatus, functional abilities and age-specific needs of patients todetermine the current level of functioning, self-care,self-responsibility, independence, and quality of life. Developsand implements a treatment plan which involves the patient, familyand social support systems: identifies interventions to reachreasonable goals; coordinate and collaborates on treatment options;advocates to enhance patients social support systems, facilitatesenvironmental modifications, and creates new support systems.Integrates discharge planning early in treatment based oncontinuing assessments and stated expectations for achievingtreatment goals and objectives. Provides treatments based onestablished departmental guidelines and protocols; demonstratescompetency in managing patients based on competency checklists.Utilizes all equipment appropriately and safely per establishedprotocols, manufacturers guidelines, and competencychecklists.
  • Completes all chart documentationaccording to the criteria of the record reviewchecklist.
  • Provides written documentation,departmental and interdepartmental, that is legible, complete, andtimely.
  • Provides patient handouts that areeffective and appropriate for patientunderstanding.
  • Maintains professionalcompetency by attending continuing education applicable to thespecific patient population treated.
  • Presentsone inservice per year to OT staff.
  • Supportsorganizational mission statement andgoals.
  • Complies with departmental safetyprecautions/procedures. PPD. CPR. Safety fair. Uses safetyprecautions when transferringpatients.
  • Productivity: Demonstrates timemanagement skills by meeting productivity standards, using patienttreatment time effectively, and utilizing time between patienttreatments efficiently. Coordinates therapy activities with otherhealth care disciplines when appropriate. Utilizes resourcesappropriately. Participates in maintaining a clean, safe, andorganized department.
  • Responsibility: Performsduties in a professional manner demonstrating dependability,flexibility, and teamwork. Adheres to professional practicestandards and guide for professional conduct. Maintainsconfidentiality of patient and employee medical information. Adaptsto changes in assignments and/or new conditions in workenvironment. Actively participates in intradepartmental andinterdepartmental efforts to ensure high quality, comprehensivecare. Provides quality customer service. Makes accommodations indaily work schedule to meet patients needs. Interacts withpatients/families/other staff in a friendly and courteous manner.Complies with Quality of Service Behavior Guidelines. Demonstratesproblem solving by taking ownership of patient and organizationalproblems and working to resolve them when they occur. Demonstratesinitiative by independently beginning new projects and/or resolvingdepartmental issues. Demonstrates leadership by volunteering andcompleting new projects and/or resolving departmental issues whenneeded. Demonstrates decision making by evaluating, establishingand adapting treatment plans and making recommendations toproviders as needed to provide effectivetherapy.
  • Relationships: Communicates orallywith patients/families/caregivers, peers and supervisors in anappropriate and effective manner. Demonstrates professionalinterpersonal relationships with fellow therapists, providers, andsupervisors. Accepts supervision in an open and professionalmanner, and implements recommendations/suggestions. Communicateswith patients/families/caregivers, providers, peers, andsupervisors in written form that is appropriate andeffective.

  • N/A

Minimum Two (2) YearsOf Post-op And SplintingExperience.

Education

  • Graduate of accredited program inOccupational Therapy.
  • New graduateacceptable.

License,Certification, Registration

  • Occupational Therapist License (inthe state where care is provided)
  • Basic LifeSupport within 2 months of hire
  • NationalProvider Identifier required at hire
  • AutomatedExternal Defibrillator
  • Certified HandTherapist

  • Basic knowledge of anatomy,physiology, pathology.
  • Equipmentoperation.
